You seriously comparing Scholes to Koke? It's not even a contest and they aren't remotely the same player anyway. Whether it was the early version of Scholes that was scoring at the rate of a World Class striker or the post eye-injury version that transitioned himself into a deep lying playmaker. Again, Koke is a great player.....for Liverpool or Dortmund. We have to aim higher if we want to get to the level of Barca , Bayern and Madrid. £50m for a player that isn't close to elite & will never reach that level is beyond ridiculous to me.

You say this confidently yet Liverpool were a midtable team before Sturridge signed even with Suarez. They were awful this season simply because he spent the entire season injured. They're a Top 4 team with him fit. Sturridge broke the record for most consecutive games scored & won the most points in the League last season with his goals . It's like saying Neymar only looks good because of the attention Messi gets.

Eh? His best form was in the 1st half of the season. And no he didn't carry Liverpool. Not when he was playing alongside another 20 goal season forward and with Sterling who was ridiculously good in their run-in. Hazard has been our best player in every big game this season while Suarez went missing in them last season. Also, it's easy to rack up goals/assists when playing in an ultra-attacking system that's built around you. At Chelsea we're content with just the 1 nil, while Rodgers had Liverpool going for 4 or 5 each game.

Not sure what's funny exactly? There isn't a single thing Koke does better than Thiago. The latter is widely regarded as the best midfielder in his age group for a reason.....

Thiago is 10x the player Koke is in just about every aspect but that definitely won't be happening. He'll eventually go back to Barcelona once he gets bored over in Bavaria. He's the type of player we need though, not Koke. I was hoping Fabregas would be that player for us but he lacks the ball security, passing range & defensive nous for that role. Hope we're keeping tabs on Gundogan.

He's clearly better than both Robben and Suarez. Neither could do what Hazard has done this 2nd half of the season. I don't think people realize how exceptional a talent Hazard is. His stats would be far greater under a different team.

The bar has been set low if people think the football we played in the first half of the season was otherwordly. Don't get me wrong, it was a million miles better than the dross we've been watching for over 4 months now but lets stop pretending we were battering teams left & right. Not to mention the fact it we were just as pragmatic in the big games as we are now. It's all well & nice outplaying the likes of Hull & West Brom but a truly great side would be able to impose their style on play on a game regardless of the opposition. We could sign Messi, Ronaldo, Modric & Kroos this summer and we'll still be parking the bus in the big games.

He was better defensively but his distribution was beyond shocking today. Not only that but he kept getting caught in possession because he was taking too much time on the ball. He's a great player but he won't ever be elite until he improves his passing.

Mourinho is only playing this way because of Hazard. Take him out of the team and these wins and draws would be losses which would force him into a more proactive style to save his job. He's his human get of jail free card.

No doubt in my mind he would be 2x the player he currently is at Madrid or Barcelona. Thankfully, he's shown himself to be a loyal player so I can't ever see him forcing a move. I'd only take Messi ahead of him.

Was yelling all sorts of abuse at Dean throughout that 2nd half and then he pulls that off. I'm actually going to applaud Herrera for that dive because even I thought it was stonewall on first viewing. Not much else to say about the match apart from thank God for Eden Hazard. He's the only reason we keep getting away with these performances. Obviously, went crazy at FT but conceding 70%+ at home is not how I envisaged us playing with the level of quality we have.
