  1. Btw, POTY Mahrez has been a shadow of his former self. And not a peep from the media (and subsequently football fans). Typical. Hazard was constantly ridiculed and his quality was doubted. I'm not surprised myself. I wrote a post in the summer about how I felt Mahrez enjoyed a freak year (Payet is better). It's strange but it happens. He's a good player, a very good player on his day but not world-class for me. Better than Hazard... hahaha, please. I'd still take him because he's a left-footed right winger who's a good dribbler and likes to shoot. Not many of those.around.
  2. N'Zonzi flattered by Chelsea links but focused on Sevilla http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2016/11/06/29250632/nzonzi-flattered-by-chelsea-links?ICID=SP_HN_HP_RI_1_3 You know, I would prefer a different player. A different type. But there's sense in making a move for N'Zonzi if you're looking for a player who can come in for Matic. Maybe even compete for a starting XI spot because he's done well for Sevilla (did not see that coming to be honest). He's gigantic and very strong but surprisingly athletic. Good engine. Pretty decent technical ability. Monster in the air. Possesses that battling attitude. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of him joining.
  3. Coutinho is a problem. He's at a great age and is fulfilling his outrageous potential. He has that magic touch and when he has the ball at his feet, he's got that triple threat. He can dribble, pass and shoot at a high level. He can unlock defences but he's also a threat on the counter with his pace. And now the boy works hard consistently as well. Not shying away from his defensive duties and he's always alive when his team has the ball. And his style is of course easy on the eyes. Firmino is quality as well. Underrated player. The way he's adapted to that #9/#10 role is incredibly impressive. An extremely difficult position to play. Turned out to be a great buy. Positive news for Brazil as well. Mane has surprised me. Not as talented as his partners in attack but there's no denying he's been quality. I do wonder if he can keep this up though but we'll see. And the effect Klopp has had on Lallana has shocked me the most. So many players playing at a high level in 16/17 in the PL.
  4. No, not world-class players but a squad consisting of very good players. Chelsea won't be able to buy alternatives of the same class as Costa, Hazard, Kante, Azpilicueta and Courtois but you should be able to find upgrades and players who can compete with the rest. The age of this squad is very good. Add some highly talented young players to the mix and Chelsea should have an impressive team in a few years.
  5. It shouldn't be a case of taking on projects when it's not necessary though. Especially because it won't always work. There are midfielders out there who actually fit the required profile. No need to then go for a (slightly) fancy name who isn't ideal. Witsel plays at a slow pace. Fabregas-ish or Mikel-ish, take your pick. Players can't fly past you with ease in this system, which explains the exhile of Fabregas and Mikel. Of course, if you can get a player like Witsel as a squad player, fine. But I'd rather see Chelsea aim for a squad with (practically all) players competing for a starting XI spot. No back-ups. No one should be comfortable as a starter.
  6. He'd be a good buy as a holding midfielder in a three man midfield but too slow and passive for this system. He's looked unmotivated for years but there's a good player in him. You'd think Utd, Liverpool and Spurs would be all over him. He did want to join Juve though.
  7. No Alli, Lamela and Sissoko so sacrifice one attacking player for a defensive player, which gives the fullbacks license to get forward and provide width? I don't know. That's the thing with tactical changes. When it works, you're brilliant. When it doesn't, you're foolish. Losing at the Emirates is always a strong possibility to be fair, regardless of your system.
  8. What is this? Secondary school? All these tests.
  9. Conte is 'inspiring' football with the 3-4-3. Already been copied a few times this season. Now Spurs. Wheter it's food, fashion, cars, art, architecture or football, Italians don't know how to not set trends.
  10. His mentality is shifting. Instead of moving towards the ball, taking that bit of time to weigh his options, dribbling to create space for others and looking for the open man when attacking the goal he is now moving aggressively towards goal, takes shots, dribbles to create space for himself and is less interested in creating for his team mates. From creator to finisher. As his confidence grows, we might see him averaging 4, 5 shots a game. It doesn't necessarily make him a better player but it will certainly make him more popular. That second goal was ridiculously good.
  11. Top notch. I deserved that. I've been on his side for a long time. Playing higher up the pitch and that's where he belongs. Not saying he'll be brilliant but I've always argued him being a good player for the collective and a good tactical tool. He's looking like that now. Let's see how long he keeps it up.
  12. I've been waiting for a performance like this from David. He wasn't just class he was dominant. Completely dominant. Wonderful stuff from that walking mop. The development of Luiz, Azpilicueta and Costa as leaders is truly encouraging as well.
  13. Reclaiming his throne. Worship his feet again, bitches.
  14. 'He's a cracking player'. Good ol' 'Arry.
  15. In the famous words of Drake (or one of his ghostwriters): Mother****ers never loved us! Chelsea are indeed in their worst behaviour. Missed the first half but I loved that second half. Speed, aggression, flair, happiness. Big up to the back three. They were not in the mood for any funny business. Poor Lukaku. Hazard will have people bowing down for him soon again. Costa was brilliant in the second half. He was playing at a different pace. He would've been a sensational footballer if he possessed better technique. He's been amazing but it let's him down quite a few times. But forget about that, the man is becoming a leader of men. Fair play to Alonso. Don't rate him highly but he was top notch today. Good to be a Chelsea fan, lads and lasses. Fully enjoying the ride.
  16. 20 shots v 1. #Target practice. (for you, Spike) That is hilarious when you think about how this was supposed to be a big test.
  17. That's what Caitlyn Jenner said. No quotation marks though.
  18. A Hazard hattrick would make this perfect. A header would be spectacular.
  19. IS THIS CHELSEA? ENTERTAINING FOOTBALL. I'M LOOSING IT.
  20. Can't think of anyone not being happy when winning convincingly. 👍
  21. Gutted I missed the first half. 3-0 and looking at the comments it looks like I've missed out. They better not dare take the foot off the pedal in the second half.
  22. I disagree with that Chalobah treatment part. Chalobah was/is a nobody. Failing to impress in his time away at the club. Christensen is a player who has impressed and has performed better than all the defenders at the club, bar Azpilicueta (maybe Luiz too, don't know), since 15/16. Cahill is fine as a back-up. He always should've been a back-up. Zouma wasn't brilliant at all. He only escaped criticism because he is young and fresh. He was slightly better than JT and Gary but he wasn't good enough either. Very good athlete but so much to learn tactically and his distribution is not good (Cahill is better than him on the ball yet he gets ridiculed for it). And he's returning from a major injury. There's a pretty big chance he won't be the same since his physical shape plays a big part in his game. Only a world-class defender should be bought. But I don't believe in the likes of Bonucci joining at all. Chelsea are better off trusting and investing in their own defenders than buy a CB like Van Dijk, Manolas or Rudiger. That's how I see it anyway. Getting back to the top and is a process and it's going to take a while. Chelsea will need to develop players (and buy smart). Look at Juve. Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci, Lichsteiner Vidal, Marchisio, Pogba were not top players when Conte arrived. Buffon and Pirlo were legends but not at their best. Same with Simeone at Atletico with the likes of Courtois, Godin, Miranda, Juanfran, Luis, Gabi, Tiago, Koke, Turan, Costa. We can only hope to see the same at Chelsea.
