According to the latest rumours he'll be announced within the next two weeks. I don't see why we need him with our current set of players but he's young enough to be loaned out or sit on the bench. The club may be trying to get him before he is too expensive so it would make some sense signing him even when we've got more strikers than central defenders. What I am worried about is Lukaku's real quality/potential. I had a chat with a Belgian friend of mine some time ago, who happens to be a youth coach, and he had his doubts about the massive hype surrounding Lukaku. Lukaku's body has obviously matured earlier than normal (premature physical development) and his impressive physical attributes have been the main reason for him being one of the 10 most hyped kids in the world and his goals output in a very weak league. Youth players who impress due to their skill & football vision usually have better chances of becoming successful than those who depend on physical attributes* . Lukaku has often been compared to Drogba but apart from being huge, powerful etc are his technique and first touch equal to the hype he gets and deserving to draw comparisons to one of the best forwards of the last decade? To sum up, he believed that if Lukaku was 24 or 25 years old it is unlikely he would be as famous and sought-after as he is now. Of course no one can doubt that he has enough time to develop his abilities and general play but improving technique to reach the world class level required by a Chelsea striker is a bet that the price being reported doesn't reflect. *ask our very own Carlton Cole
