I was wondering how long could Real keep Mourinho after he won the league last night and this makes sense in a way. However I could more easily see him going to either Germany or France to accomplish his vision than coming back to England. He isn't coming here due to Andre, and at the moment that's probably for the best. That makes ManU the most probable candidate as I can't see him at City or anyone else. Still I don't consider the reports of him returning to the PL more than wishful thinking from the journos. Don't see how getting the best coach in the world would be a step back, this isn't relationships we're talking about. If he was offered after Carletto I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Thanks for posting them, looks like Madrid were ripped by the ref again. On a sidenote I'm surprised by how uninterested and uninformed (by the standards of the average fairly active football fan) I've become of the Real v Barcelona games , in the past couple of years I must have seen more Chelsea reserve and youth team games than el Clásicos.

You should be. They can't even afford his wages and the club didn't offer him a 5 year contract 12 months ago for nothing.
-
Really? FFS Can't believe some people think Roman runs the club single-handedly.

Good to know that wasn't just me and my color blindness..our modern kits look at least a couple of levels lighter than those in the past. KieranVogel's new awesome avatar is what I remember the older kits looked like.

Wasn't there another player expected to leave last summer but got an unannounced contract extension? Not sure whether it was Hilario, Ferreira or Bossingwa.

What about Fernando Torres' first year at Chelsea ?

You're not gonna witness much comment on your article with that topic title;-) The man made Sheva look like a bargain. I like how some of your point focus on his style and how it is possible it's changing rather than his ability, makes for a nice change. -
I'm very curious about his wages..I hate how highly foreign reserve imports are hyped (in contrast to the ones being at the academy for >2-3 years) but if the club is just giving away 5 year contracts with high wages (considering that he has yet to play the game at a professional level) then hype is the last thing we should worry about.

Thanks, Peace. The thing with Sturridge is that IMO he was already capable of putting in Matchwinning Premierleague level performances even before the Bolton loan. The fact that he regularly started games for Bolton was more of a possiblity to shocase his talent and his abilitites rather than hone his skills. His goals-to-starts ratio with Chelsea before 11/12 is a testament to that. Kakuta has yet to show similar signs and obviously has get more top-flight experience first.

Happy to read that this is actually happening, 8m sounds like what a team would pay for such a player a few years ago when the market wasn't as crazy. Haven't rersonally seen him play but if he's as good as the most trustworthy of sources claim he'd be of use straight away.

Peace, any chance you could download that video (if it's embedded) and upload it somewhere?

No. PL rules.

I gave up on Torres after today. Will be depressing to read excuses for him from now on.

Are you challenging the by far part or actually suggesting there's another regular starter as shocking as he is?

You two are IMHO some of the best posters around here but you couldn't be more wrong on this account. First of all since the club operates at a loss the current financial state is already under FFP's monitoring so UEFA's FFP is already on. Second, there's no such thing as speding money straight away, at least not in the yearly books and those are what FFP is about. Transfer fees are amortized which means the cost is spread over the length of the contract. Amortization isn't optional and we can't just ignore it for the sake of making the Cahill deal look worse than it really is. In fact UEFA's Head of Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play said: Thirdly, while the wage-to-turnover ratio is important and is usually the first thing to look into if you are able to think beyond transfer fees, UEFA has not given any specific limit for the ratio therefore the wagebill and amortized transfer fees are going to have the exact same effect on not only UEFA's break-even calculation but also the club's accounts. In Cahill's case the main thing that UEFA's and Chelsea's accountants care about is that with his wages estimated to be 4.6m a year and his annual amortazation being 1.4m his final yearly burden on Chelsea's books will be roughly 6m.

Not sure how the transfer embargo is even worth discussing since it was never applied, likewise you can't really blame a player for his hype when its source was quotes from other people and Youtube videos of him playing for the reserves. As far as I'm concerned only things he has to prove is that he is worth his current contract and that he's good enough to be a real part of Chelsea's squad.

I stumbled on this yesterday while looking for a video of him stepping on Messi's hand. It appears my initial reaction to this video has hardly changed, how is he still allowed to play football at this level?
-
Not suggesting that you ignore Henrique but ignore lists have done wonders for me.
-
Sounds unreasonably confident about his playing time. Hope he's right.

He was given a lot of stick for filling in Wilkins' role, who somehow became the reason behind our double in the eyes of some people and later got vilified for being named our Director of Football, a fact which somehow made him the next Avraam Grant. Basically it was a bunch of unqualified people slating someone for "being unqualified".
-
He's nothing like a Wenger-type of player and hell will freeze before Moyes pays to get Kalou.

Feck me. For a moment I felt proud I even remembered the Deco deal included a couple of Brazilians..
