  1. Thibaut got chosen as the second best goalkeeper in the world in 2014 by the IFFHS. I think it's a bit odd that DDG hasn't got any votes at all. Surely, he is not at the level of Courtois, but he is better than some of the goalkeepers in that list. It also has to be said that it is a German organisation, so maybe the gap (216 points, 96 points) could have been smaller in an international organisation. http://www.iffhs.de/the-worlds-best-goalkeeper-2014/
  2. Nice piece of an interview with Courtois. When Courtois was 11 years old he wanted to quit playing football completely and go play volleyball like the rest of his family. But when he wanted to go play volleyball, they said that the season had begon already and that he was too late to subscribe. So to continue to do something of a sport, he subscribed himself back in a football team. When he was 18, Genk had chosen for Casteels (now keeper of Hoffenheim), for the vacant goalkeeper space in the first team. Courtois was somewhere between the first team and the reserve squad and Genk didn't have a real plan with him and he had the feeling that nobody in the club counted on him anymore. So he had no motivation to train well, he stopped learning for school, hang out with some wrong friends and planned to quit playing football completely again. But eventually, when he had to do his year over in school. He made a click and trained his ass off with Jos Beckx (youth teams goalkeeper coach) and Guy Martens (first team goalkeeper coach) for 6 months in a row and his professional football career got launched very quickly.
  3. He's even not an attacker, he was chosen the best attacking player of Gladbach.
  4. Lol, when he played at Waregem he was a decent player at the left wing. But you could see that his qualities were much more suited for the position of AM. Then he got his chance as AM and instantly became their best player by far. I bet you a 100£ that the same will happen at Gladbach, he doesn't have winger qualities, he has AM qualities. Just like De Bruyne also has to play in the centre, instead of the right wing like at Chelsea.
  5. He played himself in the starting eleven since December.
  6. We have paid €1.5M, so the fact we think €8M is laughable is the prove that we have made a great deal back then.
  7. He plays excellent in Gladbach last month at a position he doesn't like. We would be fools to sell him for €8M. Bring him back this summer and let him battle with Oscar for a starting spot.
  8. They want to pay €8M. Despite the fact that they never play him on his best position. In Monchengladbach he has to play left wing all the time, while in Belgium he always played bad at the left wing and began to shine when he got a chance as AM. I think it's good that he can prove himself at that level at a position that he doesn't like. Oscar better watch out!
  9. What do you guys think of this post? I'm curious about how other Chelseafans see this.
  10. It's funny how all the journalists and commentators are searching hard for a mistake of Courtois, because he didn't make a big one this far. Eventually he will make one, because he is also a human being. I wonder what they will say when he does it. I think it are all Man Utd fans who want to use the mistake to give a phony prove that DDG is the better goalkeeper. So when he makes one, I expect a storm coming.
  11. 7 PL goals and 7 PL assists is great halfway. But if he wants to win the Ballon D'Or, he needs 20 PL goals and 20 PL assists at the end of the season. It is ten times harder than in the PD, but if there is one player who can reach it, it is him.
  12. When you see him play and read the German articles about him, it is no suprise at all that Germans see him as the best midfielder in their league. Too bad he hasn't got a fair chance at Chelsea. He was our best player in pre-season, in the first PL game he was chosen MOTM. And the following game against United he sucked not harder than the rest of the team, but became the only victim of it. Then he never got a fair chance again. 20M euros is not a reliable source. Wolfsburg has said they don't want to talk for less than €40M. It has been confirmed that PSG, Man City and Bayern Munich will try to buy him this winter. Wolfsburg already rejected a €25M bid of Man City.
  13. It looks so simple when he does it, but in reality, not one defender in the world can stop him.
  14. I certainly accept people who think Neuer is better than Courtois, but most people worldwide think Neuer is better because of wrong reasons. They think Neuer is the better one, because he is more spectacular, because Courtois is too young for them, and because Neuer has won the World Cup. While all 3 of those reasons have nothing to do about how good a goalkeeper is. I think that is a pity for Courtois. And statistics are bs, certainly for goalkeepers. If you bring up statistics, DDG will always look better than Courtois. For Example: Man Utd with DDG: - Gets 117 chances on goal against them - DDG saves 89 of them. - Man Utd received 28 goals against. - DDG has a save percentage of 76% The same Man Utd, the same games, with Courtois: - Gets 77 chances on goal against them - Courtois saves 55 of them. - Man Utd received 22 goals against. - Courtois has a save percentage of 72% Statistics show that DDG is the better one, and people will also believe that DDG is the better one. While this a very realistic example of the possible reality now imo.
  15. Ofcourse it's an opinion, like it's an opinion that he is only top 5. I think that's very insulting for him, because top 5 means that he probably isn't top 3. While everybody worldwide puts him in their top 3 of goalkeepers. Maybe the FIFA doesn't, but they still think that Barthez is the best goalkeeper.
  16. Courtois is the better one, but De Gea has been outstanding for their team, so it's logical that they support their own goalkeeper. Courtois clears the danger before it had a chance to come up, De Gea lets the danger become big and then sometimes has a world class reflex that clears it and sometimes it becomes a non stoppable shot. People will always vote for the second goalkeeper, while the first one is always the best ofcourse
  17. Hey, I'm new on this forum, but some people will know me from another Chelseaforum where I have been posting for years. Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world, no doubt about that. His biggest disadvantage is that he does everything in a very natural way, he makes the most difficult things look very easy. That is why people always will vote for a spectacular goalkeeper like Neuer, and not for a calm and collected guy like Courtois. Courtois also has the disadvantage of his age, because a lot of people believe that a 22 year old can never be the best goalkeeper. And Germany has won the World Cup ofcourse. But when you look purely at the skills of both goalkeepers, Courtois is better. Too bad that most people can't see that.
