How much have you seen him play? Granted I haven't seen a lot, only got to know about him before the Euros started and then saw him a bit in the Euros. As for the Inter fans, they really like him. I am interested in knowing what's your assessment for the player since you think he wouldn't add anything to the team

Seeing how Torino's Manager isn't selecting Maksimovic for his squad, I'd be surprised if he stayed there. Looks like he will move to Napoli or join us. All in all, one of Maksimovic or Koulibaly should join us, and I'd be happy if anyone of those two did. It's going to be messy at the end of the window, I hope the fax machines in Italy work properly..

Also, people need to check this thread out. http://forzainterforums.com/showthread.php?12863-Marcelo-Brozovi/page88 The fans think he is definitely more than 25 and they're gonna be angry if he gets sold for 25 million.

There's a reason why Paul Pogba is considered to one of the best midfielders in the world right now. The reason is Antonio Conte. He brought him to Juventus for absolutely nothing, when SAF found him surplus to requirements. It was Conte that gave Pogba the platform and developed him into the world class player that he is today. Also, why are people so quick to forget about Arturo Vidal? He is a workhorse and him and Pogba were the X factors for Conte! People are too soon to criticise anyone that they don't know. They go to websites like Whoscored.com and see how many times he has played, how many times he has played for his country, how many goals that the player has scored etc and make firm judgements based on these numbers about the player. Honestly, I would rather trust Conte here, than go on and make judgements based on numbers on websites. These only tell how the player has played in the past, with numbers to support them. If he wants Brozovic, back him up!

De Vrij is 24..

This is true. Just look at people's opinions on here for Alonso, because he has played for Bolton and Sunderland.
-
That's BS. Swap deals never go through, and it would be so dumb to swap Cesc with him.
-
I thought the same, although I haven't seen a lot of either. Had seen Ricardo Rodriguez and I certainly liked him for an attacking prospect. But then after talking to a few on here and some more of BuLi fans, they say he isn't the best defender and leaves a lot of space behind him. Isn't very quick to cover that.

Tell me a better Left Back in the market at this price. And that's Euros. 21 million pounds, which isn't a lot in today's world.

Maybe in the future BCS. Certainly not now cause we are yet to have personnel in our team who can play in a 3-5-2. I think he is best as someone plays near the touchline. His positional sense as a CB seemed a little off sometimes, no mistakes, but he just wasn't getting into the positions a natural CB would, this happened about 2-3 times. Chievo were largely pathetic and hardly had more than 3 decent chances. Fiorentina had them sorted out. I would have liked to see him play as a LM today. They played a 3-4-2-1. Naturally, since he was playing as a CB, he wasn't on throw ins today.

Agree with you at all fronts Pizy. Have a like. It's the versatility I am really excited about. He maybe isn't the best in a particular aspect of game, but he really isn't weak in any too. Can pass, can head the ball, interceptions are pretty good as well. Gives us some height at the back as well, cause we have been conceding a lot from set pieces since last year.
-
I talked to a friend who follows Juventus in the Serie A. He thinks Alonso is one of the best LBs, if not the best, in the league. Very versatile as he is comfortable on the ball, has played in the midfield on the left, as a LB, LWB and today as an LCB and Conte loves players who are versatile. I don't think his preferred position is CB. Chievo didn't really threaten a lot. His passing is very basic, can play long balls and seems to be quick to press when needed. I think we are buying him as an LB.
-
Just saw the second half. Alonso Was playing as an LCB in a 3-man defence formation. 3/4 Aerial duels won in the second half. Lost count of the interceptions and clearances, but did well and seems to be a no nonsense defender, clearing the ball whenever there was pressure. That could also be because he was playing LCB where the scope of dribbling and taking chances is low. Doesn't seem slow at all for someone of his height. Could be a very decent signing for us.

You mean Anelka and Gudjohnsen?
-
People on here passing judgements on this player just because he played for Sunderland in the past..

When one troll gets banned, and another comes back...

I am interested in knowing how you have come up with 'He can't defend' comment here.

Have you ever seen him play?

It certainly does give us an option, particularly when we play a #10, you don't find many better than James around.
-
I agree with you on the defense part, for Matic, he is getting accustomed to the new boss' system and I would want to give him a chance, especially after last season where he wasn't fairly treated by Mourinho in all honesty. We have Zouma out too who is a beast so there's Cahill out of our preferred 11. That's why the people, including myself, are calling for 2 signings, a full back and a CB and you have hit the nail right on the head too since you are right about these positions. But it seems like the club is aware of the situation and figuring out ways to strengthen these positions and all we can do is keep calm.
-
Pretty classy reply at the end for apologising. I am sure if you be like this around here, people will like you and not oppose to everything you say. I personally would want to see you tone down that negativity a bit. Keep calm and trust Conte and Roman.
-
I whole heartedly agree with you, and I can see why you are calling for us to sign James and I fully support it too. It would be much like how United signed Pogba, maybe they could have got someone far cheaper than him, but it was the showing of intent that boosted the club with confidence and we could do with some as well. It's just that I don't see how he would fit in Conte's system, especially the 4-3-3. Unless we plan to play him on the right and shift Willian to the center. But I am not sure either player would be comfortable with these new positions. I don't want to think about James in the center with Costa up top and Hazard on the left. Oscar, as much as he is inept a lot of times while attacking, is a very hard worker and has defensive abilities which is exactly why he is being played over Cesc these days. James doesn't have that in him. I don't know about Monchi of Sevilla, but I trust your judgement on it and again, I am with you on the sacking of Emenalo. But really, I think you're a little too pessimistic about this whole situation or maybe I am liking Conte a bit too much. These 7 days will tell us where we stand for the season.

Mirror.. Express.. I don't care if we don't get Romagnoli as long as we are active in the market, we should get a defender who's available. How can you blame the club if the other clubs don't want to sell their players? And I guess you were trying to be funny at the end? I would have laughed if it was funny.
-
Sorry, but I do not agree with you, one bit. We have just signed Kante and Batshuayi. They are shrewd signings. Batshuayi is touted as the best Belgian striker by the fans and yes, that includes Lukaku in the list. Even I was shocked to hear that but he is showing signs, so much attacking returns in hardly over 2 hours already for the boy. As for Kante, I don't need to say anything now, do I? You said you don't know which direction the club is going, you act as if Conte is Wenger and the club is Arsenal and not spending because they want shareholder's maximum value. Let me tell you, Chelsea are prepared to splash the cash, as seen with bids for Lukaku and Koulibaly. We will bid for James if Conte fancies him, but I don't see how we will fit him in the squad and whether he will actually improve the squad without compromising in other areas of the team. Just because he is a big name, doesn't mean we should go all out and splash the money. Look at Shevchenko and more notably, Torres. We do need defenders and that should be our first priority. Splashing cash on James might mean we won't be able to get defenders, which I am not prepared to deal with.
