That too is a possibility. The Europeans and Japanese were different peoples as I remarked and the Italians especially were very much pro-american having previously been somewhat duped into fascism by Musolini. But the Americans and Europeans now don't seem to really want to help the middle east nations make economic progress. They make nonsensical moves, like replacing Kadafi with an al-qaedda sympathising regime.

The reason US failed in the middle East was no Marshall plan. If you take heads you also need bags. Back in 1945 Italy-Germany and Japan were brought back to their feet through assistance programs. Those countries had some infrastracture left intact -especially the Italians- and the peoples were also different. But had the western allies left them alone, they 'd soon find themselves at the mercy of marauding communist gangs, for that was the threat against Europe at the time. In Greece -an allied country of course- you see old plaques everywhere saying "US assistance program". In hospitals, libraries, schools etc (and the communists are despiseful of course) In the case of the middle east instead of assistance the idiots just don't bother.

Congrats, Specatcular performence today, Remy was outstanding.

Forget after the 2-0, but it looked like we needed approx. 1 - 1 1/2 century to score a goal. Willian's absence was obvious - the little man is instrumental in opening defenses and Diego Costa looked like he needed this match. I believe WBA were incredibly lucky and they have indeed managed to become the instrument of Chelsea's heaviest defeat this season. The referee was a clown. First WBA defenders grab Diego Costa like wrestling match, Hulk Hogan v. rest of the world. He yellowcards Costa for it ! Subsequently did Cesc hurt them that much with that ball ? Then how do they play soccer in a first division team ? Loftus Cheek looks the part for me.
-
Amazing how coincidences add together sometimes. Despite the indifference, the substitutes used, the poor physical condition, despite everything that could never be a 3-0 defeat. Fluke referee decision against Cesc, fluke penalty given away by Terry, extraordinary mistake by Courtois, all in the same match ! Their first was ok but again the ball wanted them.

We used to have a Greek Liverpool community. I was at tv studio when it was presented, by George Georgiou whom the Greeks know of course very well. I had some mishaps that day. First my belt broke and I had to hold on to my trousers on the way back home, second I slipped and fell down in the street (infront of Panellinion cinema - Syngrou ave.).

The one before says something about censorship or a threat of such a nature existing. I don't know if it's true and I doubt it but it's not funny. Why you say it is funny ? 1971 Athens, the story I talk about and about those songs you probably have heard some yourself. They exist in a number of versions.

That censorship thing can go crazy. Once upon a time during junta I was strolling down Syntagma square with a friend. He was studying maths and he said something or other about not liking one of the subjects. I said in England we have the units and you make selection of the units you want each year. A car revved up and he heard "election" instead of selection. So he turns yellow and says to me "no, no, please, please don't say such things ...". But we also do have some who ought to be locked away for their own good. There is the one with Auschwitz-SS songs. I 'm not sure he is still on the lose but he was a couple of years back.

An equal amount of socialist hanky panky stuff exists. The trouble is we do not as citizens have any economic rights. The French revolution established the secrecy of correspondence but the new kings and princes are allowed to make the minimum inland stamp equal to 1000 francs. We are uselessly divided over things like the ... Persian wars of 400 bc, over nationalization and private enterprise etc.

In the economic sphere, the system works as follows: The Labs are out to collect taxes from the Tories. Things are engineered so Labour tax victims are those who vote for the Cons. If you are a star Lab supporter and you are affected by Lab tax laws, they try to fix something for you. The tax supremos are working things out so things do not deviate significantly from the pattern. From the other side of the fence, things proceed in exactly the same way. Simply invert the words Lab and Con in the previous sentence. This time the Tories won, next time who knows. What nobody does and will never do is cut down taxes uniformly and across the board. So if the "x" person, who may be of any political persuasion, makes 1000 pounds, they will not become 800 by the time he turns the street corner, but will become 900 say. We are all being mugged.

That's quite likely. But I said league matches.

Hey, I 'm stuck with something, can you help please ? Is it possible for a team in England to play two league matches in two consecutive days ? One today and one the day after tomorrow ?

It's evident we try to play Barcelona style but we ain't them, just at the moment (n.b. the current Barcelona). What difference between today's performence and that against MU for example ? Against MU we managed to keep a clean sheet, not today as Stevie scored for his farewell (and did not slip while he was at it). I believe Cesc underperformed, also Mikel. Some changes are needed and I don't think the inclusion of Diego Costa will make this team stronger by more than 10%. It's alright when we put the opposition to sleep and we hide the ball but what about scoring ? We tend to forget the colour. With younger Drogba, Lamps and Essien was it like that ? We were seeing some bullet speed moves back then. Jose dreamed up this system last summer, it worked, but some additional jobs are needed. Because come August it won't be Maribor-Galata Saray-Xamax-QPR we will have to face.

where did Costa go to ?

As I said the Tories are a bit one sided but Labour are billy liars. In Greece we suffer from communist money grabbing mechanism, make everybody poor policies, pickpocket the silly francs (*). It's like last chapter of animal farm. (*) silly francs = old Greek slang for Europeans

The Labour idea that working classes will benefit from nationalizations and from high taxes is defunct anf hence their predicament. A party that cares for the working people is needed, but why have nationalization and lame duck industries ? Also the high levels of taxation tend to hurt everybody and not just the rich. Also in business things what matters is not an industrialist's personal wealth but the future of the particular investments he makes. Thus if I am a rich man and I open a chain of candy shops in the tube stations, I 'm going to ask my lieutanents "what are those shops doing ?" and if the taxman's axe is heavy, I close them down and make the workforce redundant. The left do not understand these simple things and they never will. The Tories are more clever. They tend to be one sided but more clever.

Liverpool have certain small hopes of making it to the champions league, although it is debatable what good it will do to them. I expect we are going to win in style though.

In UK if a party leader is not elected in his constituency but the party does elect mps, is a swap allowed ? In Greece it happens all the time so the party leader takes the seat (in the case of small and medium parties who do often get into this situation).

Pep conceded three like a fool. Good for me because there were free bet offers. If there is a revival from Real Barcelona's champions league could be in some danger, otherwise it will take a miracle. Suarez was poor.
