  1. Well it's Pool and a smidgen of hope for Arsenal. About City we will know on Saturday,
  2. I believe City will give up the ghost, just like Arsenal-Spurs-Utd already have more or less. It's between us and the Scousers.
  3. With the popular muse around the world - tribute to Fidel Bob Dylan about Fidel:
  4. The blonde next to Conte with the VAT inspector look brings luck.
  5. Two clear chances, two goals plus Alonso who should have used his left to tap it in. Not an impressive performance but effective to take us back to the top. Pedro scored one of the goals of the season.
  6. Up the (Spurs) a**hole. Right on time too.
  7. Fidel - on line with hell Exclusive from hell: Fidel is being offered the following menu selections: - grilled kebap - spare ribs - roast beef a l' anglais
  8. There are many scenarios for the end of the world. Attack by flying saucers is one. Our predators have a probability distribution. I believe a series of dictatorships is the closest one. In every country there is a lunatic, with his own particular type of brain damage. In the end we have to live in the mountains-caves and we die one by one.
  9. Look the nazis have never been any different. After 1945 they joined with the others against communism, albeit reluctantly. In West Germany they even made former Nazi Reinhard Gehlen head of counterespionage. Gehlen was the lieutanent of the Prague butcher-creator of the SS Reinhard Heydrich. He convinced the Americans he was the only one who knew about Soviet espionage secrets and could help them. He proved a nutcase and a buffoon because during his term the KGB scored huge successes in the field of espionage against NATO so he resigned. But nevertheless it came to pass that German post war counter intelligence was headed by a former nazi. The nazis and neonazis disguised as patriotic anticommunists always smeared and libeled people whom they did not like and offered a terrible service to the western alliance. But as "strength is in numbers" they were not touched and always maintained some positions of influence. After the demise of European communism in 1990, they did a coming out job and by the year 2000 they showed their true colours: Race discrimination, antisemitism, violence against minorities and all the rest of it.
  10. Easier than it looked. Costa has become killer. I notice that when outside the area he is not as nimble as the others but he has become killer. I expect a fair goal margin against Spurs next week, but the one after against City looks like a more difficult test.
  11. Well, if your country is captured by enemy forces or if a communist regime takes it over what else can you do ? The passengers of St Louis in 1939 were turned back by the Americans and only those who made it to England in the end survived the war. Those who went to Belgium-Holland-France were captured later by the nazis and perished in the concentration camps. But to the "John Birch society" types in America this was a small matter. It's exactly the same in today's world. There are some more who become immigrants because there are international agreements that allow them to do that. When and if those agreements are placed in doubt and no longer hold -e.g. the NATO alliance- these people find themselves in a vacuum and are hounded by both sides.
  12. Socrates is trying to prevent the free kick from being taken quickly. I don't understand why the red card to Papadopoulos who is not taking part in the skirmish.
  13. They say he tried to use the Greek player's pants for support, to get up on his feet. From statics point of view it looks most ill advised.
  14. All the anti-Hillary drivel is nauseating. The dems fell into the trap too "Trump is bad but so is Hillary".
  15. Sure. Things will get better you reckon. Just like 1941, early days of German occupation. There were advertisements in the press "school of German language", "school of Italian language". Funny stuff. But then the nazis started rounding up hostages. The international terrorists are super happy now. Imagine living in one of the ghettos, but you are one who favours peace and reconciliation to war, you are not one of them, ISIS etc. You are a dead man by tomorrow same time, so you don't exist and the bombers and assassins belonging to the terror groups have a field day.
  16. If Putin wants to extend his influence now is the chance. Imagine a situation like this. People escape from East Berlin, or Prague after the invasion and the west instead of helping them to settle fire grenades against them. Spray guns on one side of the wall, but spray guns on the other side too.
  17. Look, any rep with a "Mexicans out" platform could sway the party and win the nomination. But performing in national elections too was the difficult thing. Yet he managed it. The people were tired after eight years of dem rule. That too worked to the reps advantage. Ultimately extreme nationalism is on the up. In the cold war years USA wanted to be the world's policeman, also showed some preference to military regimes. But that thing is not the same as xenophobia. If in fact the Americans were to exhibit xenophobia those years, it would betray the cause. Alliance of the "free world" and xenophobia at the same time ? Impossible ! Just listen to Nixon's resignation speech. Yeah that one - made in August 1974. Half of it is filled with praise to the American led free world alliance and how he -Nixon- did a good job to promote it (as Nixon believed about himself). But with cold were gone the old Alabama style xenophobia rose again. Cold war ended in 1990 but this state of affairs we 're in now could n't really take hold straight away, in 1992 or 1993. It took about 15 years and in fact the reps of 2008 were almost as hard line as Trump seems to be now. The only difference was that in 2008-2012 they lost - a 5% difference. It's looking bad. The once solid western world is the arena of a 3-4 cornered fight now. It's like football hooliganism. No more playing football. We each take a stone and take aim at the floodlights of the stadium with it.
  18. The polls got it wrong. It appears to me they are trying to construct samples which they think are as representative as possible of the population. But in doing so they misjudge things, the wrong weighting coefficients are applied. An excuse of the type "hidden voters appeared" has no place in statistics. They seem to have abandoned the old swing theory that used to perform better. I don't believe there was a "shame factor" at play with Trump. With Brexit there may have been, after the Cox murder, but not this time.
  19. Are you all crazy and don't support Hillary ? What's her daughter's name ?
  20. A Trump presidency will be an immense boost for terrorists around the world and will make it possible for new communist terror sponsoring regimes to emerge (even though not led by Russia this time). If he does actually become president and if he makes a 180 degree U turn from his present ramblings, this won't happen, but I go by what he says - the content of his speeches. The wall, also a 50 billion dollar fee for any nation wishing to remain part of the NATO alliance plus more ... The peoples of USA - UK suffer from the Chamberlain delusion "Czechoslovakia is a faraway country". He also wants to sell guns to all and sundry by email so the kids going to school return home riddled with bullets.
  21. Commies and blackies in Greece are praying for Trump, man sized candles dedicated to Tino. Just like for the Brexit. It's the same circus of trolls. One of them got killed in a traffic accident last month. The goverment spokesemen paid him a tribute saying he was an "invaluable co-worker". When it was pointed out to her "but this man was a known internet troll, what do you mean co-worker ?" she said "shame on you, you are fascists" ...
  22. Arsenal fail to capitalize in the London mini derby. Pool 0-0 after two minutes. Any odds available on Jose having Christmas with United ?
