Great leader. He will be sadly missed, like Didier. But one hopes they know what they are doing and have an adequate replacement.
-
Also Courtois made two dropsies. Unacceptable.

Arsenal are clowns. We were n't going to lose even if the despaired Mourinho was still manager. Remy was a goat let lose on the pitch today - missed three clear chances. In the league Arsenal are out, Leicester are a small time affair, so it's Citeh. I wish Spurs could do it since they have n't won a league from the days of Greaves-Blanchflower.

I 'm waiting for some announcement, yellow letters. Reminds me of Greek January transfer window of the year 1984. Jugoslav international Surijak was the hot property then. He did n't come. An excuse was made up that he reached the frontier late at night but had forgotten his passport.

Why can't we have boxing now ? There is no lack of space. Back in the sixties we used to have wrestling in Athens football ground. The house across the road belonged to a retired admiral and we used to go there and watch from the balcony. It was Arion versus the monster. My mom said she thought Arion was a Greek-Egyptian a third cousin of ours.

Do we really need new stadium ? The present one dates from 1976, but it's better now than it was in 1976. The biggest sports arena in Europe they were saying back then. Stadiums get old. I 've been to the old Amsterdam Olympic stadium. That was the stadium in which the Olympic games were staged once upon a time. It looked like the stadium of a fourth division - Isthmian league team. Now of course they have a new one. But I don't get it why the bridge is considered old. The way you describe things we are in for a huge drop in class.

Only Real Madrid are the all time big spenders. I can recall only one brief period in the late 60s - early 70s when they were not buying everything across the board. Even players they hardly needed. Barca also during the last 10 years. I don't know what makes them so rich. We seem to be a poor house at the moment.
-
Chelsea things being what they are now, fact is Arsenal are as useless as ever and Arsene Wenger is a specialist in failure. Czech saves the day for them. A Chelsea win is very much a possibility, in a match that traditionally ends in a draw.

Diego Costa's goal was not as fluke as they say. It was n't a Gerrard slip - he nipped between the two players. However he managed to make the miss of the year later when the ball went under his foot and also hurt himself in the process ! As they went ahead again, they deserved it. Terry's goal was offside also beyond extra time. Everton are better than this Chelsea.

Players from countries lower in the ranks, or from lower divisions are always a risk. The premier it is also a dangerous place for an attacking player who looks good but also wants a lot of space. Cuadrado is an example who shined for Fiorentina and la Juve now, but could n't make it here. Almost the opposite is true for Italy for the players the Italian clubs import. If one is not a nimble sprinter he can't make it. Notorious fails were Jimmy Greaves and Ian Rush.

Notice the brylcream people were using for their hair in that period.

To be fair about it, the last Everton were heard of was in the year 1970, when they were subsequently drawn against Panathinaikos of Athens and were knocked out. The toffs are not bred to go places and by the nature of things only their red cousins can do it - sometimes. The historic match at Goodison. Before Everton's equalizer the Greek goalkeeper was fouled:

I don't like Pep. He is going to leave the Bridge at night. Simeone is a good one, if he becomes available.
-
Everton held city and they have the best form after Arsenal and Leicester, despite their poor position in the table.
-
I did n't like Costa and Oscar today. Oscar was reported injured as well in prematch reports. Kennedy was good and I know a goalkeeper or two who could have saved Albion's first equalizer. Before the 2-2 Costa had Willian on his right side making a free run. I knew he was n't going to give the ball for all the tea in china but on the rebound they got their second.

Unlucky but I told you so. C. Palace was a pack of garbage. The usual weaknesses.
-
Whatever the case may be, against Crystal Palace it was a false down. Palace are awful now, they played rubbish against Villa, let alone the joke of a goal they conceded. West Brom are not likely to be any better but it's highly premature to say that Chelsea is now last year's Chelsea. Strengthening of the team is certainly needed.
-
I posted in Crystal Palace - Chelsea post match the words "We started the new year with a win. Good omen.". Went in as first of page 5 and if you open page 5 you can see my post. So this is the bug and it needs fixing.

I opened all the threads in "the Match" in their last page and they open alright. All except Crystal Palace - Chelses post match. This one says 5 pages and the last poster is BioHazard. But page 5 opens with error message. If I go to page 4 BioHazard is indeed the last poster. So the bug is this. When the page reaches it's limits and the next message will go to new page, that page is created prematurely and then it says "error". There is another forum I know about horses that does that. Now I will try to post something after BioHazard and I expect it will appear in a normal "page 5".
-
Somewhat better. I opened some threads. But when I go to "Crystal Palace - Chelsea" the same error message on page 5. Maybe there are only four pages in it, page 4 became full up and the forum software adds a page 5 before a new message is posted to begin a page 5 for real. I 've seen forum software doing that before.

Nope. That's what happens when I try to open a thread: I 'm on Mozilla and it reupgraded itself during the last weeks.

Misse the match ! Thought Greece time was UK time.

What an odd post ! I felt tragic myself when at the age of 9 my team lost the title in the very last match (two pts ahead - defeat against easy opponent). I was in the terrace of the house listening to transistor radio. A granny came along and she asks "what's the matter". I said "we are 2-0 down". She said "why do you care about these things !". But now we know about hard lines, all of us I suppose. The series of tragedies is a long one: - Chelsea. - Government actions - entire population impoverished. - Sports betting - taxation without representation. Plus more ...
