How does that even make sense though? $4.5 billion, lol. Are you a new admin here? I've never seen that handle before.

Torres is an Abramovich signing. Mata is not. He's been treated with kid's gloves from the moment he stepped into this club. We reconstructed our playing style because of Torres. We signed attacking midfielders galore to get the best out of Torres, even to the detriment of our team. We started an entire season with only Torres as the recognized striker. Better strikers have gone because of him. We've handed everything to him on a plate. It can't be just about the fee we've paid. I'm not saying Jose is a yes-man. I don't believe he is, BUT Mourinho is the manager. He's also an employee and takes orders even on some football related matters. He said it himself.
-
Mata wasn't Mourinho's pet project though. I'm not saying there is protection, but there might be. This is Chelsea and anything is possible. And as for the wages, I don't doubt that, but if the club is desperate to offload Torres, they will pay him what is left of his contract and put him on the market for cheap. I just don't see any urgency there.

If you're going to reply to all my posts every time then please don't attack straw man.

He had a horrible time under that idiot Fonseca. Now it seems he could be moving to Arsenal to replace Carzola who is going to Atletico Madrid. I saw Quintero play in the U20 World Cup and this kid arguably even has more quality than James Rodriguez but James is better rounded. He certainly has more flair than him. He's still pretty raw in Europe though but that's because Fonseca never trusted him. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2712470/Arsenal-close-15-8m-Portos-Colombian-starlet-Juan-Quintero.html?login#readerCommentsCommand-message-field

It's interesting timing for Mourinho to come out and say "we aren't selling Torres" right after we sold Lukaku. Why say it at all? With the timing, I think he means what he says. He said it himself, "I'm just the manager and I have to listen to the club". I hope this isn't a case of Torres still enjoying "protection" from the higher-ups at the club most especially Roman. The question is will we be bringing in another 4th striker. I seriously doubt it. An ideal plan will be to bring in another striker that will give Costa serious competition and then we give Torres the Malouda treatment or at least a very fringe role like Ba got last season.

Jovetic now with 4 goals in 2 games. Their "fourth" striker ffs.
-
It's questionable mate. I do rock some pink polo's once in a while but that's to parties and stuff. Pink for football though? I dunno about that one.
-
smh It's just too feminine for me though. It's very difficult to pull of in a rugged sport like football. Can you imagine a guy like Ronaldo wearing that?

Of course the excuse is "I want to be first choice" but the truth is he's a coward. The thing that hurts me the most about Lukaku is his lack of care for the fans of the club. Despite all the attention and love we have given to him. And all the mental energy. We have 447 pages on this forum alone about a player who only played 10 games for us. It's the same on other Chelsea related sites as well. The rival fans say we lack class but I'm on twitter and most of the comments I see are respectful and thankful for his little/non-existent contribution. It's an admirable quality but one I feel Lukaku doesn't deserve. He's no Juan Mata. Fans of clubs like Liverpool and especially Arsenal would have ripped him to shreds. Another thing that I noticed about Romelu is just how self-centered he is. Now, I understand that every man has to look out for himself and his family, even Mata left us the following transfer window when he realized he wasn't in the manager's plans but no one can accuse him of being selfish or self centered. He was here for two years and genuinely liked the club and fans. Mata was a team man first and foremost and will always have the respect of the fans and everybody associated with the football club. Basically, almost every phrase that comes out of Lukaku's mouth is "I" and "me" , never anything about the club he represents or about the fans. I've never known a Chelsea player like that before and we've had some mercenaries in my time following the club. And to rub salt into our wounds, there's the pretentious rubbish about his "love for the club". He claims he's a fan but was has he ever done to show that? I read his tweets from time to time but unlike many of our other players, I just can't register with him on any sort of level. He cares more about the clubs we loaned him out to, West Brom and now Everton. That's okay, but don't play with us by saying you're a "fan". Joe Cole, that's a fan not Romelu. Romelu is just a mercenary.

Do you even know what a Tsar is or do you just regurgitate ridiculous cliches? What's next? Blood money? Russian gangster? You make it sound like your lot have signed the reincarnated Ronaldo de lima. In 3-4 years time, Everton will be fighting for 6th place with or without Lukaku then he'll start crying and whinging on wanting to play "Champions league football". Good luck with that.
-
Enjoy him then. In your monumental battle for 6th place. :tophat:

His comment about wanting Everton to finish above us is disrespectful to the fans and manager. I've never heard a player on loan at any club say something like that before.
-
I was willing to be patient with his petulant, idiotic behaviour because he was still our player and I had hopes he will do great things for us. That's why I was sympathetic to him, but that sympathy is gone now. Mourinho saw it coming before any of us did when he said "Lukaku likes to talk", I didn't get what he meant. I couldn't see it yet. The stupidity started back all the way when he scored his first goal for Everton and did that phone call celebration, as if he didn't leave the club VOLUNTARILY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiiKkBMzGfE Some of his comments are just bizarre. For instance, here he says: ‘I couldn’t do much about it. The coach made his choice, and, as a player, you have to respect it. I went along with it, and it is now up to me to prove he was wrong. ‘It has been two years in a row now, and it does make you question things and wonder why. But that’s life. You just have to get on with it. If he was the one who apparently asked to be loaned out, why will he say that? Then back track and say this: "It wasn't the fact that I wasn't wanted. I think I was wanted but I had to make a decision for myself and analyse what was the best thing for me." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/29/jose-mourinho-romelu-lukaku-chelsea-everton Again, I'll have to side with Mourinho here, judging by Lukaku's track record of disrespecting our club and our fans. Remember when he said he wanted "Everton to finish above us" to send out a message to Mourinho? http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/08/romelu-lukaku-admits-doubts-over-his-chelsea-future-and-wants-everton-to-finish-above-jose-mourinhos-men-this-season-4138635/ Or "It is high time that I play in the Champions League. It is the next step I need in my development. Full stop." --- Good luck with that at Everton, Romelu. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/459129/It-is-time-Romelu-Lukaku-tells-Jose-Mourinho-he-is-ready-for-Chelsea-return and this downright, hilarious one: “Let me say that I am now the complete striker." The club could have managed this better because of the talent of the player in question but he's talked himself out of the club with his disrespectful, ludicrous and asinine comments. He's never shown any affection to the club only affection to himself, despite his so-called "love" for us and "a dream to play in this stadium" nonsense in that infamous youtube clip when he was a boy. He's disrespected our manager with his "I want to score more than every Chelsea striker this season" comment. The press used that as a weapon against Mourinho till Lukaku himself went through a dry spell. Every time he opens his mouth, something counter-productive came out. The sooner we sign a replacement, the quicker we can all forget about this petulant, selfish idiot. GOOD RIDDANCE.
-
"Welcome home". Cringeworthy stuff but it's the kind of stuff you expect from them Scousers. I officially hate Lukaku now. Besides the fee, he's done nothing all for us but cause our club and most especially our fans grief with his moronic behaviour. I hope we boo the shit out of him when he comes to The Bridge.
-
Hate to be the one saying "I told you so" but I said on the Diego Costa wishlist thread that I won't swap him for any striker in the world right now. He's world class and what we've seen so far is only a tip of the iceberg You guys who were crying for Cavani, will you seriously swap him for Costa now?
-
He was one of the fastest strikers in La Liga last season. Guy's a monster when he runs through the channels.
-
Another game were Torres huffs and puffs and produces nothing of note despite getting 90 mins.
-
Pretty brilliant performance from Diego Costa again, btw.
-
He did win the free-kick afterall.
-
Now Costa's been shafted to the left while Torres of all people is playing as the striker. I guess this is just Jose testing but I'll like to see our new striker play his best position.
-
Vitesse are behind in their pre-season like us. Those other teams were closer to the start of their season. Olympia, the last team we faced had already started their season, so those sides are more fit.
