I'm not even worried, he was going to be expensive anyways. I think we need to be looking at Lukaku and cheaper alternatives, I don't think we need to go and get the most expensive striker to improve. Our strike team has been performing so badly it wouldn't take as drastic an improvement as Cavani to start seeing goals, . Cavani would have been lethal but with the club record breaking fee he would come with anything less than lethal would be a massive failure. Aside from Shaw if he ever gets dropped into the market, Chelsea will avoid +30m transfers until we get Torres of our hands (those types come with high wages).

It's all bullshit and I still maintain any opponent that even gives Mourinho attention has lost the mind games. You could have the greatest comeback of all time but the fact that you just responded to Mourinho's comments when his whole goal was to provoke you means you lost. After over 10 years anyone that doesn't know how Mourinho works by now never will. The only defense to Mourinho antics is to say 'No comment', anything else is exactly what Mourinho wants.

That's the problem it's just an opinion, I know Mourinho tactics very well (I've followed his whole career pretty closely) and he only every keep a few formations in his pocket 4123 is not one of them. For this Chelsea team the formation is 4231, and its staying like that, his two trivote formations only come into play against big clubs. What I was trying to get it no matter how nice you think the formations is, it'll never happen

He's perfect for Villa. The way they play he'll be a key player.I can see why some of you feel letting him go would be best for him, its probably true. Shaw will come here eventually maybe not this year but eventually he will be a Chelsea player. The question is do we use Ryan or PVA to fill in for that season or two?
-
4231 for a game like Everton, 4321/4312 only comes out during the heavy games... It would be a little disappointing if we needed a 4321 against Everton at home.

The Article isn't worth much but we can keep out fingers crossed. Not happy about the selling Lukaku bit though.

I'd say Luiz (in the backline), Mikel and Torres have been an issue all season, the last two matches are highlighting this well. Ramires is slipping a bit but he's is still the right type of player to fill the role, a rare type of player. I think thats why we need Guarin to give Ramires some competition, with Mikel making 19 appearances I'm sure Guarin could be squeezed in. Ramires had only been disappointing recently apart from his finishing being sloppy consistently. You can choose another player if you wish to sing for the CDM role but Guarin is the same rare type of player Ramires is, Guarin would also make Luiz expendable as his spot in defensive line is becoming a liability. Whatever Luiz gave us in the midfield Guarin could give us that at least. As so for Salah it will be hard to judge he is young and the minutes he featured in were not the best moments this season for the team.

He's fit's the team well for when he play 4231, only time will tell us what he can do.

Had Mourinho played any other squad just because of fitness we would have still lost. Any one of you that had the idea going into that game that we were favorites and were guaranteed a win were very deluded. This Man City squad is one of the best Prem teams I've seen in a long time. Had Azpi or Cech blocked that opening goal the game might of went differently but I would have never bet money on our Chelsea to win that sorry guys. They're better than use, doesn't mean we can't beat City, but the conditions are not in our favor in terms of team quality, fitness, depth and preparation time. Our dept is an illusion; we are 1 big Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Ramires or Azpi injury away from a disaster. We could have tried those fresher players but the result would have been the same in my opinion. Mourinho put out that squad using his 4321 strategy because he respected this City team and the tournament, that was the best shot we had at progressing in the FA cup. I stand behind Mourinho on that game until the substitutes. To see David Luiz as a centerback, and Mikel and Torres on at the same time against city made me cry.

Guys Lukaku has been injured and I still believe his start of the season with Everton deserves him the spot behind the striker that is signed is the summer at least (he could yet prove he has what it takes to be out man). We should at the very least not sell him, he could of been a useful alternative to Eto'o this season already. Many of you are forgetting Mou said there will only be 1 maybe 2 signings in the summer, this is a topic I feel he is serious about. The striker we know will be in the works because that has been an issue every game so far. Shaw is staying at Southampton at least another year, he has so much time on his contract left. I still think Ryan Bertrand needs to be brought into the team its the most suitable fix. I still stand firm that if we sign only two players, other than a striker we need to bring Guarin. The guy has a solid game against Fiorentina and showed comfort in all areas of the pitch. He also assisted the opening goal, with a cheeky lob pass over the defenders. In a game like the City match where Mourinho is always going to be playing his 4321/4312 game Matic-Ramires-Guarin looks more versatile than Mikel-Matic-Ramires. That trio would be better than what Mou used at inter and real with Chivu-Motta-Cambiasso or Khedira-Pepe-Alonso. I've said it before he's (Guarin) like having a copy of Ramires that can actually shoot very well! I see nothing wrong with having two playing like that even if we more regularly play 4-2-3-1, the depth is welcomed if we're to compete seriously in all competitions (we are already starting to wobble because of depth). Guarin also makes the rotation more simple as it allows us to offload David Luiz to fund the signing of a real centerback. Tomorrow I'll be watching out for another Colombian I'd like to see Luis Muriel, he could be our bargain Cavani. Between Lukaku and Muriel those are good (and different) option to play with our team team. He would fit into the system well. This solution is also cheap compared to Cavani will allow us room to make solid offers on a real centerback or possibly Shaw in the future (who will probably set off a bidding war). The main reason behind my idea is the very highly likely possibility nobody makes any offer for Torres (the elephant in the room), Lukaku/Muriel/Torres won't look all that bad.

I've always been a fan of Mario FOR his antics more than his playing. To be honest both of the men don't have the attitudes of leaders, but Mario is funny and that's something that I've always felt Chelsea had, funny guys. I've always loved the amount of humor this club outputs, its unmatched. I also really like Mario's story, he's a survivor. In terms of the person they are I'd take Mario by a long shot (and Mario himself is a risky personality). When I think about they're kind of evenly matched so I don't know why I'm picking Mario so easily, guess I just really like the guy. Costa has more man strength you can see it when he fights off defenders. I still think that if getting Costa means unloading Torres that one is a no brainer.

How do walk away like a block of ice after scoring a corker like that?
-
Someone should start a poll... (1.) People who were always for Costa coming to Chelsea. (2.) People who still think Costa shouldn't come to Chelsea no matter what deal. (3.) People who think Costa should come to Chelsea only if it means Torres will go. I'd like to see the stats on that one.

If you read just the quotes it looks far more disrespectful than if you watch the whole presser and keep the comments in context. It's was a joke, a cutting one for sure but hell its true in many ways and Wenger as a man can't hide from his track record. Wenger was asking for it when he said 'Mourinho was afraid of failure', that's guaranteed to provoke a response. But did Wenger just try pull a Mourinho on Mourinho by rattling his feathers a bit? When Mou said he doesn't want 8 years it made me a bit sad, I want him for 8 years... I love his attitude in that he wants to earn his next contract. Another thing, where can I get one of those vests Mourinho sometimes wears to the these things?
-
The new Jag F-types are sexy Mou has good taste, the R series sounds like beast. As for the game, I think we slipped as a team. Not the best performance from anyone, manager and all.

Permanent? United is a massive club and won't throw in the towel so easily. This season will be remembered as a crazy one for Yanited fans. Painfully frustrating for everyone I bet, the whole fiasco is turning Moyes' skin and hair more grey by the minute. Moyes has made a few suspect decisions but for the most part I blame the players and I think everyone sees it and there might be a lot of changes in the summer, a lot. Moyes has actually had a better start than any united manager ever... Better start than SAF. I think the players don't feel they owe him anything because you Januzaj working hard (who dos feel indebted to Moyes for so much game time) but I can't say the same for the rest of the team. Most of his bad decisions have been where he plays Welbeck, Mata and playing some players far too much. Next season will obviously be better for him, he'll have his own team and we should dismiss him at our own peril.

I believe very strongly that Shaw does not want to be a Chelsea player so soon. There is nothing we can do, he has long fresh contract. Selling Lukaku isn't a good idea, he's a childhood friend of Hazard's and has immense physical potential. I really came to to talk about Schurrle, I know it's been it's been so soon but was he a mistake? He would would be getting double the time anywhere else, and it's not so much the club that overshadows him as opposed to the System than doesn't need him desperately. He's going to end up as makeweight for Cavani, Courtois and Luiz to possibly face the same fate as well. Selling Lukaku would be terrible buisness. Even though a new striker signing is imminent we aren't going to sign some striker younger than 25 to strangle Lukaku's play time. Making him 1# at Chelsea could potentially destroy his confidence should it not go down well. If we sell Lukaku on the cheap I will be extremely disappointed. I feel confident he's not going anywhere.

Juan probably misses his seat already.

Terry, Carvalho, Drogba, Cech are the ones I would have without a doubt. Filling in the rest is too difficult.

Who would you sign to lead the line at Chelsea?
BloodIsBlue replied to Melanicus's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Out of that list it would have to be Cavani easily, even without the list he has all the traits we need and I'd put him at the top. Second would be Doumbia although many would disagree with me there. Mourinho said the summer transfer window is going to have 1 signing 2 max. If it's going to be 1 signing, and we end off with a good season overall, it would be a waste not to get Cavani. No Costa or Balotelli and the kind of temper they bring. Suarez would is a fantasy although if Liverpool don't make European football they have a promise to keep. Though, even if you won the bidding war for Suarez that would ensue you still lose (Exhibit A: Overpriced Bale).
