Never really replicated his club form for his country, but then who of the so called "golden generation" did? Cheers for all of the memories Frank, and if nothing else for personally ensuring the rush of goal line techno through FIFA into widespread use.

Genuinely just heard a discussion on the TV where some guy was talking about all of the money Chelsea have spent this window and how it was only on 2 players we were actually going to play (I assume he was referring to Cesc and Diego). The interviewer frowned and mentioned the stat that Chelsea are around level with their spending this window and that by net transfer spend Man Utd have spent the most. And this fat fucker genuinely said that it's a different kind of spending to the spending that Man City and Chelsea have done. That it's to help rebuild a great squad that Moyes butchered rather than buying players for the sake of it like City and Chelsea do. Also when the interviewer/host spoke about the players in and out and reported fees the guy said he reckoned we'd lied about the Luiz fee and questioned why Courtois wasn't on the list. The interviewer said cos they signed him 3 years ago, and the fat twat disagreed and said they only 'really' signed him this year so should be included. I genuinely just heard that. I thought for a second that it must be a piss take programme, but no.... it wasn't. That's actually will-full stupidity, I can't believe that he'd even begin to start believing that crap...

If we are going to sign a HG keeper for 2nd choice, I would like Kasper Schmeichel. And before anyone thinks that's just because of his performance today, just no. He was available on a free this summer and we could've signed him instead of getting Mark on another year deal.... However, if Leicester now want a ridiculous fee then I agree Ruddy would be a pretty good 2nd choice keeper to have. Butland, Krul and Begovic are all also top quality and HG and should be kept an eye on. But if none are available for the cheap(ish) fee that Ruddy would probably be available for then i'd be all for it. All of this is assuming Cech leaves, so this summer if he does now or next summer if he leaves then. EDIT: N.B: Begovic only has 2 years left on his contract. If he hasn't signed a new one by next summer we could maybe get him on the cheap too?

Rumours kicking about that he'll be paid MORE than Rooney if he signs for United. That's over 300k per week, PLUS the huge transfer fee which will be £45M minimum. Crazy risk by pumping that much into one player that we're not even sure they need.

Before you get too downhearted remember that Mourinho said the exact same things with Luiz and Mata. Mourinho may want him to stay but he also may not prevent him leaving if a bid comes in. Also, Mou has been known to be.... flirtatious... with the truth with the media at times, if for no other reason than to troll them. So don't read too much into it.

So gutted to hear James Alexander Gordon has died :/. Didn't know until it was mentioned on MOTD today. So sad... His voice is what I remember from my youth, coming out of the ground and getting to the car quickly with my dad to warm up and listen to the results come in and try and guess them by how he said the first part . Good memories...

If anyone missed the game today, it's being replayed in full on SNF in half an hour on Sky Sports 1. I missed the game so I can see for myself if the Cesc-Matic pivot was really that poor today or if people are just talking bollocks (from past experience I know which one is more likely). Also I get to watch Tibo prove why he's the 2nd best GK in the world. Lovely.
-
The ideal situation for Chelsea is that he stays and helps tutor Tibo and is back up in case he gets injured/loses form. The ideal situation for Cech is that he's playing at this point in his career. Whether that be here or somewhere else. Petr has done enough for the club that he doesn't really owe the club enough to think he HAS to stay here as a backup/tutor for a year. But it would be amazing if he could stay for just that 1 more year. There won't be any hard feelings if he leaves, obviously, but I think staying that extra year would really cement him as one of the true legends of this club, proving that he really does love the club even when he's not playing. It's all up to him tbh. Either way, his performances over the years have earned him a heroes send off, whenever that time comes.

If he flops there's no way they'll get their money back. The fact that no other club want him atm for £16M shows that no-one wants to take the risk with him any more and if he flops AGAIN they will be stuck with him like we're stuck with Torres. They'll likely not be able to even give him away with his high wages coupled with his tendency to flop, disrupt the club harmony and act like a mental child. He's being sold for a loss by the club which had that absolute nutcase Berlusconi as their president after just a year. That says everything you need to know. They're obviously desperate to be rid of him like every other club that's had him. Liverpool are taking a massive risk.
-
Why not let them have him on a free?
-
So happy that he's coming back to PL. The guy is absolutely brilliant and hilarious. I'm glad it's not to Chelsea though, he's a good player but too much of a loose cannon. We can enjoy his mental nature without having to worry about it affecting our club in an adverse way. Sturridge-Balotelli will be a very good, very pacey strike-force. We needn't be worried as even with him Liverpool aren't contenders for the title, but their 4th place rivals over in Manchester should be shitting their pants...

I swear every thread can only go like 2/3 pages without a video/gif/vine showing Torres missing a sitter... Why guys? It's just depressing . And the most annoying thing about it is that I don't think I've seen the same video twice, there's literally that many out there.

42 goals and 10 assists in 99 appearances in Serie A, at an average of 60mins per game and 147mins per goal. Broken down that's: Genoa 10-11 3 goals and 1 assist in 18 appearances (average 44mins/game, 262mins/goal). Siena 11-12 15 goals and 4 assists in 32 appearances (average 72mins/game, 167mins/goal). Roma 12-14 24 goals and 5 assists in 49 appearances (average 61mins/game, 146mins/goal). For Italy: Senior Team: 1 goal in 5 appearances (average 41mins/game, 205mins/goal). Youth Teams: 28 goals and 4 assists in 33 appearances (average 64mins/game, 76mins/goal). Market value according to Transfermarkt is around £15M. Just some stats for you all, do with them what you will.

What's awesome about Holland? What sucks about Holland? In your lifetime best dutch/chelsea best XI. As in combined dutch internationals or chelsea players. Most underrated player at Chelsea? Will MVG ever become a Chelsea great? Best young dutch player out there?
-
Great, now i'm going to worry every time we play Saints that he's going to break Hazard or Costa... . We don't need thugs in our league, we had Roy Keane for 15 years and that was more than enough....
-
And then Gerrard said they were going to win the league this year.
-
Schurrle is DEFINITELY winning atm.

Wtf Swansea? And Everton's isn't great either for a top 6 club. As a side note, hahahahahahaha at Spurs.
-
Is it slightly wrong of me to be a little bit disappointed that the Drog isn't badly injured? I was hoping that it would leave us in no doubt about signing a new striker. I just have a horrible feeling that we're not going to sign another one now :/. Please let us sign Remy/Hernandez/anyone but Torres....
-
As a side note, shouldn't there be a poll or something? Where everyone can select their 3 most hated clubs so we can see which ones come out on top? I'm too lazy to go through and count.
-
Spurs Liverpool QPR QPR and Spurs cos the fans are cunts. Simple as that. Liverpool cos they act like everyone owes them something. And the bullshit surrounding Hillsborough/Heysel doesn't help.
-
Would prefer Varane, but he might not be available. But if we sign a back up striker (Remy, Hernandez etc.) and still have cash left over then i'd say sign a CB. JT and Ivan are probably off next year so we would then have Benatia, Cahill, Zouma and then 1 of Omeruo, Kalas and Christensen. Personally i'd prefer that last spot to go to Kalas. A great long term signing and a good short term signing. But is he worth £30M? And we NEED a new striker as back up, and we need it now. That should be our primary focus.
