That's one way of looking at it, the other is he was dropped for Oscar...
-
Like against West Ham you mean.....?
-
He has 6 full days rest. I'm sure he's be hoirrified to be essentially a nailed on first teamer and be 'rested' for the biggest game of the season so far!!

Chelsea midfielder set to be awarded £4.8m contract extension!

Well deserved!!! -
3 more points, Matic is back, we missed him but managed 2 wins and 2 clean sheets, so have to be positive about that. Courtois, Hazard and Ramires were excellent. Ramires MOTM for me. If he had scored when he hit the post it would have been one of the most incisive counter-attack goals of all time. Fabregas looks knackered or unfit, he was really off the pace. Diego looked like Diego when we are not giving him much service. Ineffective. But lots to be positive about and very positive about the PSG game now!
-
But if the FA had not suspended him, then he would have had shin pads AND tape, and not got injured, and played. Or got injured or sent off in the actual game. Or something else. Infinite possibilites. The doesn't mean that if the FA hadn't suspended him he would have been injured anyway...
-
I'm just surprised he didn't pick a 1-4 loss....
-
I assume he was joking......not a chance in a million years.

If we can't get Varane for a decent price then I'd be happy with that!
-
Courtois Ivan Cahill Terry Azpi Rami Zouma Fabregas Willian Cotsa Hazard Tough game and they will be up for it, but let's get the points and move on!
-
Yeah it was initially reported as £32M but I read somewhere the club have since said it was £42M. Can't remember the link, if anyone can find it?
-
42M actually, even worse...
-
Yeahn, basically Varane and replacements for Drogba, Cech and Mikel would be good.
-
You will be content then as he is injured. Ironically seeing the slating he gets here, we could probably use him on Sunday.
-
Imbula is a good young player and would get a decent amount of chances with us and maybe develop into something special. He's the sort of player who is young and a bit raw, but also ready to play in the first team. As for expensive you are probably right, he'd be affordable and certainly nowhere near Pogba in terms of cost and wage (although is nowhere near the player either...!)
-
True. They are hamstrung by FFP and their terrible attendance etc. They are really looking to develop youth. It's all hypothetical but I suppose if they wanted to get him off the books that much they could sell cheap, which could allow for a bigger wage. He'd be an excellent 'utility' player in midfield, able to cover a number of positions.
-
Another point - Moutinho was signed by Monaco when they were splurging cash (which is no longer the case), so I imagine he's on quite a hefty salary there, which may put suitors off...
-
True, Zouma has pace, but a very large turning circle, which is quite normal for a big CB. He's be truly terrible as a holding midfielder and look VERY immobile despite his pace.
-
Replacement for who? Imbula would be a good back-up for Matic, but he is quite raw. May be expensive to get too...
-
£20m for a back-up left back, anything is possible.... I think Moutinho would be very good cover/rotation for those positions. Kondogbia was good yesterday but has not really been setting L1 alight since his return....
-
Like Azpi you mean?
-
Miore than I expected to be honest, but difficult to understand when compared with Routledge etc (which I was unaware of previously)
-
Do you ever make a positive post about anything? I honestly have never read one. We're going to lose 4-1 to PSG, Costa is to be banned for months and months, etc etc. BE POSITIVE!
-
Good result but terrible performance. Offered nothing on the counter, couldn't keep the ball. I really hate how when we get into a good position (despite playing poorly) we NEVER go on to try and win the tie, just try and maintain. Instead of dropping back and back we could have continued playing the same and gone for 0-2, killing the tie. Instead we sat back and the inevitable happened. Courtois was great. Cahill should not start again. Far too many errors and Zouma has been impeccable in comparison. Ibra dropping off to receive long balls/passes all night and Cahill got nowhere near. He's too focused on dropping back. Veratti is a dick and should have seen red, but other than that I thought he was the best player on the pitch. We should go through, but I just wish we'd try and win every game, we certainly have the team to do it...

Cahill has become a liability, Zouma needs to start as a confirmed no1 CB.
