Went round the estate six times, then onto a main road... I got into fourth gear and did 55mph, which ain't bad for a first lesson :)

I knew you'd rock!! Of course I prayed you'd stay safe!! LOL but that is the mom in me!!

It's very tricky at first but once you settle down a bit you should be OK. I'd say you need maybe 5-6 lessons to master the moving off, stopping, keeping distance and being aware of your surroundings. Then another 5-10 lessons depending on how quickly you can get into a routine of carrying out manouvers.

Don't make the mistake I made when I started driving lessons, failed my test and then just gave up for a year because I was pissed off.

I had to almost start from scratch again the second time which meant I wasted some money. But passing was one of the best feelings ever, only made 4 minors in my second test :delight:

The best drivers pass second time around -_-

Cheers for the advice mate! :)

I've got my first lesson on monday. I've driven before though drove my mates brand new car and nearly put it into a skip before stalling. So yeah god help my instructor haha.

Luckily they have a brake to help out  I'm sure you'll do fine Kez!

I passed the theory test first time, obviously. I'm now on the verge of passing my test, although I've taken a more casual approach.

The best advice I could give is that no matter how genuinely nice your instructor is. He's no different to a salesperson at the carphonewarhouse, remember that.

theory test???? what the hell is that?

If you can't pass the damn road test I don't want to be on the road with you!! Now mind you, I say this to my students (in nicer terms) but honestly if you can't be pass the road test you don't belong on the road!!!

An exam you have to sit before you can take your pratical test, contains things like road signs, general road knowlesge, vehicle safety, hazards etccc.

I had my first lesson yesterday absolutely loved it picked it up very fast!
