Wages - Massive problem

When you consider the reported wage figures of the players we've had last season,

Ballack 135k - 7mill

Deco 90k - 5mill

Carvalho - 100k - 5mill

Joe Cole - 80k - 4mill

Belletti - 60k - 3mill

So thats 24 million off the books straight away,

Now even if we add the reported Torres' 175k wages, which i honestly doubt to be correct, it would add 9 million, and 4 million each for Ramires and Luiz,

So we've still ended up reducing the wages by 7 million AT LEAST.

And I haven't even counted Ray Wilkins wages ph34r.gif

While other clubs have only increased their wage expenditure.

Now consider our increased turnover due to being Double champions and new long term sponsorship deals with 188 bet, adidas, singha beer etc.

Our Wages as a percentage would have dropped close to 70% already, if not lower. So i think we're quite close to achieveing what the UEFA demands.

The reaso i doubt Torres' wages are that high is because the rest of the team stalwarts like Drogba, Lampard, Terry would be well within their rights to ask for a compensation close to that figure and that would only ruin the wage structure.

Besides we've paid Top money to get him here, if anything he should understand that and take a pay cut, no my bad I forgot I was talking about footballers not saints shoot.gif

Stupid arguments. He is 33 years old. He is in decline. Hes been serving Chelsea for 7 seasons, why its really diificult to some people to accept that players dont play forever? I have read here that he has several years of world class football...Torres is here to replace him, nobody is talking about 17 years old player. Thats why we paid 50m on him, so please shut up.:eyebrows:

My friend, I think the information has eluded you that Drogba didn't even really start his professional football career until he was almost 21. He hasnt gone through the wear and tear that most footballers have been through at 33. Yes his abilities to recover from Malaria are severely affected at 33 but whose aren't.

Besides his strengths isn't his speed which will fade away with age, it's his physical strength, finishing, ability to bring others into play, none of which should wither away too quickly in the forseeable future if he remains professional about maintaining those standards.

So to sell him just because he is 33, is harsh, the only reason we should sell him is if he wishes to look for a new challenge or someone offers crazy money for him, or he starts asking for crazy money to be on the same pay scale as Torres' reported 200k .

Everyone takes out our bad and rough patches out on Drogbas and Anelkas backs. Why is that ? Maybe because they are the strikers and are supposed to be free scoring all the time ?

Maybe some of you are playing football yourself once in a while. So you know that you are a genious one day and the other your first touch is a massive disaster. It is exactly the same with professional footballers, the only thing that differs is the level compared to us amateur ballers....

Even when Drogba is having a shit time people still talk about him being a super striker...think of the build up for Arsenal away this season....

As for the wages.People seem to forget that we also have a massive income on shirt sales and so on. We are earning money as well.

We shouldn´t compare our situation to Man City.

Thats the problem. If you say that Drogba can leave, it seems that you dont respect him and you dont recognise the good things he have done for the club, and about Anelka I think he can stay. His game is based in the ball control, and I think his game is more intelligent that Drogba´s game. His also as more versatilite, he can play as a forward midfielder, winger (both right and a left) and as a central forward.

Drogba has awsome technique. Watch him better and you will see.

Before malaria Drogba's overall game was better than Anelka's. I didn't think that malaria would harm him so much, but it has. Give him time to recover and you will see how good he will be the next season.

I would never even consider letting Drogba go, he is still the best striker on the planet and not even a year ago he was the leagues top scorer, whoever feels he should go simply needs to watch him a few weeks ago at Bolton where you probably scored the goal of the season and ask themselves again whether he should be let go.

Anybody who believes that our wages will increase dramatically with the signing of Torres needs to think of how much revenue the club will generate by him being at the club, your wages are all relative to your revenue, out problem is that we we are spending most of our revenue on wages which needs to drop, so we either decrease the wages, or increase the revenue

I'd love to see Drogba end career at the Bridge. He's a legend and will go down as one of the best - look at his scoring for us, more then goal every two games. He has had a bad season so far but that's down to his malaria illness, minor injures. As far as I'm conserned Drogba is not for sale. I'd consider letting Anelka (who has expressed his desire to try out MLS) and Malouda. The likes of Zhirkov, Ferreira can be sold. Does anyone have any idea how much Bosingwa earn weekly? I believe we should keep Bosingwa with us for atleast another season, even as back-up. I've hear we're in hunt for Gregory Van Der Wiel so that'd sort us out.

All in all, I can see us part ways with Zhirkov, Ferreira and PERHAPS Anelka and Malouda. With Drogba - no chance, and rightly so. Read news of us letting Mikel Obi go, nonsense. The guy is sill very young, soon at his prime and his performances are constantly improving. Most of this is just media fabrication where they fail to mention the facts behind the numbers. Like some people mentioned previously, these numbers don't exclude Ballack, Deco, Carvalho, Belletti, Joe Cole. Club wouldn't harm themselves, and the fact that we've bought Torres and Luiz in January is a statement of our intent as well as our improving financial status despite Fair Play being introduced soon enough.
