I think now we're seeing the real Rooney. ie first goal in the league from open play in 11 months or something like that. Give me a young Michael Owen ,shearer,Kerry Dixon or Linekar any day. Some people are just natural, i don't think Frank Rijkaard is responsible for Messi for example. Rooney has been non existent since his injury against Bayern. Oh and Andy Carroll, well... he's an £8-10m player at this stage in his career, if anything is a 'panic buy' it's that. I like him, he's got everything in his locker but he's not there yet. He's only been in the premiership for 5 months and had a few cameo appearances in 2008/9. £35m is beyond a joke but it made sure they had Torres' replacement with an unrefusable (is that even a word?) offer.
