You guys don't see how much attention Drogba gets from defenders. Kalou had a good game last night because he was free almost all game, the Sunderland defeners rarely bothered to mark him because Drogba was there and Anelka just behind. Now imagine Torres was playing instead of Kalou? He would have scored a hattrick last night I am 100% certain of that.

Defenders mark Drogba and often double up on him like Bramble and Onuha did last night. Kalou was there floating about as the spare man no wonder he had a good game by his standards.

Anelka

Torres Drogba

We need to see that in action first and foremost before anything else in my opinion. Benayoun would have been perfect cover for that role in behind the two strikers.

That's actually a very good point! Didn't notice it until you mentioned it now, this trio could honestly be a defender's nightmare if we work it properly!

And with another striker that defenders HAVE to mark Drogba will get more freedom. Nobody respects Kalou's ability so they don't mark him.

Which is why I'd be glad with having Kalou as a bench player. He can change a game with this, albeit unwanted, ability to evade markers. Now he'd have 2 world class options when he gets on the ball.

Yup! Kalou on the bench with limited minutes is a good idea.

And Torres does something none of the other strikers in our team do well or even want to do...play on the last man and make runs in behind. This forces defenders to drop deeper and allows for more space for others to operate.

I heard the same about Eto'o but last season proven that duo Eto'o - Milito is lethal for rival defence.

Eto'o - Milito failed. Mourinho changed the system after a month or two because of that and Eto'o played as a left attacker/midfielder for the rest of the season.

Btw, I actually like the the goal.com line-up but it would be unfair to pick Malouda over Ramires judging on current form. But if Malouda does play well, that midfield could become great. That midfield has skill and work rate.

The only small problem is the fact that Frank always plays on the left and could be less effective on the right. Some may say that small things like that don't but it really does.

Plus Etoo is very different from Drogba, he is faster, better movements and he has more versatility.

I dont know if you really believe that they will work together or if its just a desire. I want the better for the team, even if it means Drogba on the bench.

I believe that Carlo will try to use both in first games, but I dont see how it can work;

I have to say I agree, that was my concern too. A two-striker system with two pure strikers has never worked out, one will have to adjust the way they normally play. And I doubt if they one of them will want to do that or more importantly if one of them can do that without performing at a lower level.

Why I believe the 2 striker combo will work is because Drogs isn't the old Drogs anymore. I dunno if its his malaria or anything else. but he just dusnt get on the receiving end in the 6 yard box anymore. He is more interested in setting up others and is dropping deeper and wider. His overall play if you have observed this season has been outside the box.

A classic example yesterday was when cole made an excellent run in the 2nd half behind the Sunderland defense and crossed it across the 6 yard box without looking for options. Of course, it was awful to watch Cole crossing to empty space and see the ball run out of play. But the point is no one was there to capitalize on it. FT9 is someone who thrives on those kind of opportunities.

El nino and Drogs would make a good pair with nico/yossi behind them. I dont really care who scores amongst them. As longs as the system works as a whole, we should be good.

That's true. He isn't the Drogba of old who used to be the highest man on the pitch at all times.

That's the most important thing and that is what I was slightly concerned about. I just hope players don't get forced into the starting line-up.
