NO SOONER had I got off the Monaco stage after helping out with the Champions League draw than my phone buzzed with a text.

It was from Jose Mourinho, who'd been watching the draw in Madrid.

"Nice suit, Mr UEFA Ambassador," the text read, "and thanks for the draw. Now can you fix it for Real Madrid to reach the final?"

"Of course," I answered. "Who do you want to play, Chelsea or Barcelona?"

Within seconds the phone buzzed again with another message from Madrid.

"Chelsea. Definitely Chelsea," Mourinho declared.
