DYC. 7,542
Malouda in midfield and Zhirkov on the wing. Zhirkov hasn't played in his orginal left winger role since he came here so he should get a chance to play there. When he filled in for Ash, you could see what a attacking threat he is and he is just rotting on the bench. I feel so sad for him because he is Chelsea first XI material. He's like a left-footed Valencia. Likes to stick to the sides, speedy, great dribbler and a very good crosser. Please Carlo, give him a shot
Manuf 1,448
Or Essien who knows.
DYC. 7,542
It is sad that all our midfielders have decent or average passing abilities and vision, except Lamps and Mikel's long passing. of course (Matic has great potential in the area of passing but he's not with us now ). Lucky for us Lamps is some kind of android who hardly gets injured but having another good/great passer in the squad would be helpfull. Our midfield play is be very predictable and the tempo in playing the ball around is much lower without him. That was painfully obvious yesterday (Lamps had a bad game).

Cameron 30
Benayoun, but I'd expect him to be back for West Ham, if not the game after.
chrismada9 1,948
Or Essien who knows.Essien isn't actually a bad call seeing as he captained the side against Ajax in pre-season
DYC. 7,542
Essien?Essien is very decent passing but certainly nothing special. He did deliver a wonderful pass to Sturrdige in the CS but that won't happen too often. Just like Terry's pass to Malouda yesterday. Essien also needs a lot of time on the ball before he releases a over a greater range than the simple short passes. Mikel has that too, needs a little too much time on the ball. His long passes from deep are lovely because he has time on the ball in those positions.Nothing for him to be ashamed for, he's just not that type of player. It shouldn't be expected from him in the first place.

Like a xabi alonso from deep or kaka from a forward position, a player who's job is just to create chances for our strikers.
Manuf 1,448
You guys seriously need to re-watch our latest 3 games and watch Essien playmaking.
The Big Drog 1,110
Like Shane said I expect him to drop Malouda into midfield like he did in the second half yesterday and Kalou to start out wide.Personally Id rather Ramires or Benayoun get a starting place in midfield and leave Maloud aon the wing because thats where I think he is most effective, cutting inside from the wing and linking up with Ashley. NattyBlue 44
I'm pretty sure Kakuta is injured till mid sept...that's what espn or something had up anyway for our current injuries, no wait Eurosport I think
BLionheart 516
i know carlo will just slot malouda back in Midfield and kalou instead of him ..... but i just hope that sturridge will play instead of kalou .
BLionheart 516
ohh and btw lampard can't be replaced , you need to change your game if he is not there because no one have close qualities to his defensively and offensively .
Bacika 188
Zirkov will play in the LM, essien RM, mikel DM; and attacking trio the same, Malouda, Drogba, anelka...
Madmax 9,219
I'd imagine Zhirkov on the left wing and Malouda in the midfield three. But I'd understand if Carlo just stuck Benayoun in midfield and kept the front trio unchanged.
termninja 5,290
Terry is also injured so probably Ivanovic will replace him, and Benayoun will probably replace Lampard and with Ramires entering later in game. I'd love to see Kakuta play to be honest.

Luke 60
Would be good to see Yuri actually get to play left wing with Malouda slotting back into midfield like he did against Stoke.
gary gordon 1,777
Lampard will play... Nope, not at least against West Ham. He has to get a surgery and it takes time to come back from her. 1 week is a minimum.Told you so.....
