Ipods

Now that I'm going to be going to quite a few of the UK Away games, i'm looking to buy an ipod to listen to music on the journey. I've got a Nokia 5530 which allows me to listen to music, but it's not pratical listening to music, searching the internet, taking pictures and using it as a phone as it uses up the battery life quite quickly.

What's the best model on offer for an ipod? I'm thinking of the Ipod Shuffle is that any good?

Hey ray!

The iPod Shuffle is very limited in what it can do. You can basically put songs on it and it just randomly chooses your music for you. If you went up one model to the Nano 8gb, you will be able to store a lot more music, also add videos and pictures. They also have a camera on there, the quality of that is not anything special and is actually only 2.1 mega pixels, so the equivalent of an early model camera on a mobile phone.

I would probebly suggest something like the Nano 8gb but you will be paying a little bit more for it!

Hope that helps a bit!

An iPod is an MP3 player, but is a brand name in which Apple have made famous.

and it's exactly why only people who know nothing about music buy it.

the mainstream with mainstream music tastes.

a percentage of people who buy them don't fall into this category, but the point is still valid.

At the end of the day, the only two decent company's who can still Rival Apple are iRiver and Sony. I personally use iRiver but these days everything just pushes most people towards Apple. Better accessories better everything. Most other companies will be pushed out of the market soon enough. I work at one the biggest Audio and Electrical stores in Australia, we sell probably 100 iPods to every 1 standard MP3 player. Reasons behind this is better marketing!

Agreed. I have an iPod, but only because I received it as a gift, the price on an iPod is ridiculous when you think it's just an mp3 player.

Thanks mate, I'll have to read up about the Nano. I'm always conscious whether my phone's battery is running low as I like to browse the internet and listen to music, so it'd certainly be handy to have a second device where I can listen to music and not have to worry about the battery on my phone getting low.

Better than a nano, cheaper than a nano :)

honestly, I think it also comes down to how much time you want to deal with it... the last Sony mp3 I had the software that went with it was a pain in the butt... iTunes is simple and easy (unless Sony has made it more user friendly, I'll stay with my iPod). I like music but I'm not as into it as some of these guys and I'm not as tech savvy either! Between the 4 of us we have a nano, an iPhone and a shuffle. We are an Apple family tho. My husband loves his shuffle but he only uses it when he's at the gym and he doesn't have a lot of music on it. The nano is much better and allows you to choose you're songs and you can put them in playlists and what not. :)
