What's with all the talk with Luiz as a right back? He's a left footed player, and the only full back position he should play is the left back one, but only if we don't have a good replacement for Cole. Ability to play and the ability to play well on some position are different you know...

I'm not too fond of VdW too after his bad season. He reminds me of Bosingwa...

Ivan is not as pacy like Bosingwa to deploy a fast attacking on the right side.

VDW will bring that for us.

I really hope we land VDW if we sell Bosingwa. Apparently he can tackle, cross and score a handful of goals too. While we are at it, we should poach some of Ajax's other promising youth. Christian Eriksen and Siem de Jong, anyone?

Where Did All Of The Gregory Van Der Wiel Rumours Go?

Amidst all the whisperings of potential Chelsea moves last winter, one stuck out. Widely repeated, this rumour had the Blues going after young Ajax and Holland right back Gregory van der Wiel. Van der Wiel, whom Steve profiled in may, isn't one of football's flashiest names, and he certainly didn't have the sex appeal of the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Neymar. What he was (well, I suppose he still is) was a solid, reliable, two way right back who'd probably come relatively cheap. For a team like Chelsea, that would be a huge benefit.

Ivanovic and Bosingwa are better than any other right-back in the Premier League, I really think we're wasting money on buying VdW.

While I agree that we do need to buy a right back as Bosingwa has deteriorated to the point of no return and Ivanovic lacks the technical ability and pace required for the position, VDW however is not the solution to our RB worries. . . . . . he's barely above average and way overpriced.
