Guest THE BEAST
well as far as i can see the only thing blocking the purchase of agueo or ozil o khedeira is that we have too much average playes:1- we already have kalou anelka malouda benayoun sturridge and Drogba the only two who should be in our starting eleven are dogba and malouda that is if we are to play with 4-3-3 ..... so if we get aguero he will be the third player with them but what will you do with anelka kalou benayoun while you have youngsters like sturridge kakuta and borini waiting , i think that was the same reason stoch has left .....what i would love to see is somehing like what barca has .. a world class starting three (malouda - Drogba - aguero) one experienced sub ( anelka ) and then comes the youngsters (kakuta - sturridge - borini)the problem with average players is that those players are taking the chances of great prospects like kakuta , the purchase of aguero and they are not delivering as well ....i hate to say it but we are very close to danger zone because in a couple of years we are gonna have only old players , some average players and some inexperienced youngsters who are not ready yet . that is why i am desperate to get the likes of aguero , shweinstiger and daid luiz ... they will be our coloumn bone in the near future at least till our youngsters are ready and i am hopeful that carlo and the club kow about this because if i can notice that then definitely they have noticed as well . Kostas 1,468
We won the double with some of those "average" players. Not all of them are starting XI material but they benefit our squad depth and step their game up when needed. They're also much better than the subs Manure and L'Arse have. LDN Blue 7,903
It could also be about money though. Perhaps Roman doesn't want us spending ludicrous amount on players like we used to.. The likes of Ozil, Khedira and Aguero are rumoured to be from £25million to £40million. Teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City have severely raised the prices of all the player by about £10-15million of what they originally valued. Then there's a wage issue. We saw from the whole Joe Cole thing, Chelsea are taking a very firm line on the salary of our players, with £100k earners only limited to 3 players. The big players like Aguero, Ozil and Khedira know they can easily make £100k at other places so this makes negotiations very difficult. We Hate Scouse 10,327
At one point I would have agreed that we needed new players, but we've just won the double. We have a very good squad with excellent depth. After this season is when I think it would be important to get 2-3 new players in, but this season as much as I'd love to sign a mega player I wouldn't be to upset if we just went and brought a few youth players in. EskWeston 696
Lets just wait and see, we have seen the club are not prone to rushing through transfers anymore, and if are to sign any players from the WC then we would announce it once they can start training, so there would still be a wait for that while we let them have a holiday.Plus there is clearly a tightening of the purse strings at the club which needs to be done so the days of us splashing out fortunes on players are gone. But for the right player i am sure we would pay up. There is still the possibility of us signing someone like Aguero or Ozil and it looks like are trying to sign Neymar also..Too early to be worrying, and besides we do have a good squad and some very good youngsters. I am happy for us limit our trnasfers in if it means bringing these players through because they can be as good as any signing we would make. Joe Cool 388
Is it just me or is this Kakuta44? I could possibly be mistaken This thread is rubbish anyways, we don't have any average players, I highly doubt we need to buy anyone new, all we need to do is just make sure the youth break through into our squad, buying new players would cost well too much. Kostas 1,468
I'm curious about whether or not we will sign a striker. On the one hand,Ancelotti was quoted saying Nothing has changed from when I said before we did not need another striker. I have Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge, we don't need any more strikers.[...]I am happy with this squad – it won the Premier League and FA Cup last season. As for the Champions league, we will do our best – we do not need to change anything. So he's either really happy with what he's got or thinks that buying another striker would be a waste. On the other hand Santos yesterdays officially revealed that we made a bid for Neymar, which makes what Ancelotti said sound like lies.I think the people at our club may force players on Ancelotti and I'm not sure if he does have that much say in our transfers(which invalidates the "trust our manager argument")We have forced players on our managers before(Ballack,Shevchenko) and I don't think Ancelotti had that much power in Milan,I know for fact that Ronaldinho's transfer wasn't his wish. Duppy Conqueror 1,543
it could be a case of1) Carlo classing only Centre Forwards as Strikers...and Neymar more of a Wing Forward like Malouda has playedand/or2) we may be trying to sign him this transfer window..but thats not to say that if we sign him now,he will play for us this season.
