Where & when are our youngsters going to fit in?

We have several players out on loan to premiership sides at the moment. This is a sign that our academy is producing some good talents. Even at Chelsea, we have the likes of Matic, Borini, Sturridge & Bruma, who regularly make the bench and/or are giving some playing time.

But, looking at the fact that we have Ancelotti as coach, how long is it going to take before they are going to fit in into the first team? At Milan he was used to fielding players way over their thirties, so when he would use some of our youngsters?

A list of players who could/should be replaced by youngsters next season imo:

1. Beletti

2. Deco

3. Kalou

4. Ballack

5. Ferreira

6. Joe Cole (if he doesn't get a new contract, instead of buying someone new...)

Ballack won't be replaced, we make too much money from him.

he's the german david beckham.. do you realise how many shirts he sells, he's a marketing men's wet dream.

Kakuta is the only player i think should be getting games, j.cole and kalou leaving would certainly improve his chances in following the footsteps of football greats and make history here.

Ballack: Shit excuse to keep him, just kill all the marketing men and tell him to piss of back to a sausage factory at the end of the season :ballack:.

Kakuta: It would be unfair to only let one young player play first team games, when clearly we see Sturridge showing himself as a top class striker and other players like Matic who keep getting on the bench, but just need a little bit of luck getting substituted on, and while Matic has been great in the reserves, Kakuta has not lately.

When you're at a club like Chelsea, it is incredibly difficult for young players to break into the starting eleven. Teams like Chelsea demand instant success in terms of winning trophies, and this means playing the strongest possible team for every game. That means its hard for a young player like Borini to come in and replace either Didier Drogba or Nicolas Anelka, or for Malouda to be dropped in favour of Gael Kakuta. Unfortunately, that's the problem these young stars have at Chelsea, and only the best will make the grade. They should be ready to take whatever opportunities they get. Sturridge is the perfect example. Granted, its only a handful of goals in the FA Cup, but its still a decent record; he's scored four goals in his last nine games, despite starting only three of those matches. That's almost a goal every other game, and that's the sort of example other youngsters should be following. Kakuta, Borini and Bruma have promise, yes, but they haven't done anything spectacular on the pitch. I want them to suceed as much as anyone else, but Sturridge's contribution has been more than satisfactory for a young forward in my view, and thats the sort of role the other young players should be playing.

Well, the likes of Bruma, Kakuta & Borini don't really get a chance to show something spectacular. But we have to look at the future, in previous years Chelsea always bought replacements, but in the mean time we have some self-trained youngsters who could take over. And i certainly not expect that someone like Drogba gets kicked out of the starting eleven because of Borini, but at least we could give him some more time on the pitch. How are they ever going to learn anything about pressure etc if they don't play games (and i don't mean 2-5 minutes like Borini gets)? Why can Liverpool, Arsenal (maybe not a good example because it's more common there) & United do this, but we can't? I don't see why our youngsters have less quality than theirs. And they also get time on the pitch despite they have world class footballers in their team.....

Agree with what Bluelion said and thats pretty much what Jose said. That he wanted to play youngsters in game and all but felt being under pressure to win so had to field out the strongest side

Gana defintly be hard to them to fit in but least they're getting chances now and then better then none at all and just gotta perform when giving the chance to show what they can do under various circumtances

Carlo himself said he doesn't feel pressure, because that's 'normal', so that shouldn't be the problem. Personally i think his argument for not playing youngsters is because of 'the experience' they lack. In a lot of interviews he conctantly reckons how important experience is for him....

OK , i think tonight was a perfect day to play matic kakuta and sturridge or borini ....... we were up 1-0 and after that even 2-0 ..........most of our players looked like saving their energy to Wednesday and were obvoisly just trying to avoid injury or exhaustion .... i still cant find a reason why ancelotti didn't throw in some fresh young legs ...

Sorry but I find this incredibly stupid. I have seen it posted by a few Chelsea fans around the internet today. Wolves were playing good stuff and WE NEED TO WIN so we leave on the good, proven experience to see us through. The only time I'd trust to throw a kid on for someone to rest them is 90+ minutes and that would be useless. We are trying to win the league here not give everyone some game time. The Kakuta love is so annoying, he is hyped because of the transfer ban. Stoch has done more in a blue jersey IMO. Sturridge/Borini would have left us light up top. Matic has barely played and while talented throwing him in to a game like today unless necessary is needless. If we conceded late then the pressure is on us. You see these games out not get cocky and play youth.

i would recommend that you watch the match 1st before coming here and writing that shit ......... the experienced players were nearly standing all match some players didnt run more than 6 kilometers like anelka ...... while wolves were completely unable to do anythong except for those 2 chances which happened to be because of our players who didn't wanna move to save thier efforts.... that was cocky and we could ve paid for that if it wasnt for peter cech .... and if you wont give em chances in those matches when are you planning to do so ..... btw if stoch was not on loan i would ve asked for him to start fighting for a place in the starting eleven and i hope that happens next year ....

you are hopeless .... you are not even worth the discussion ....

No need for personal attacks. For most parts i agree with CHD. The way the season is going atm, the last thing we need to do is bring in inexperinced players. That said bringing on one of our youth players every so often say with 20 minutes remaining will not be all that bad. But games like yesterday when we where 2 goals up, i was still a bit nervouse. Wolves played on the counter and hit us a few times very well. Without cech in goal we could of easily been a couple of goals down.

I agree that yesterday was not the time to bring youngsters on. We needed a professional performance from our experienced players, and we got that. You can argue Kakuta, Borini et al would have caused Wolves problems, but the truth of the matter is that we needed our strongest possible eleven yesterday. Villa, Tottenham and Liverpool have all failed to win at Molineux this campaign, so the best team we could field is the right one to select as far as I'm concerned.

For the record, however, Bruma was quite solid.

yes they did hit us a few times but when you watch the replay you can easily see that in both situations the defenders were not doing their best to get and clear the ball for me it looked as if they were saving their efforts which is something good ..... malouda wasnt going back to help in defence as usual... joe cole as well and of course anelka ... dont tell me they were causing us problems we were causing ourselves problems and btw in these kind of matches when you are up 1-0 or 2-0 i always think that our big experienced players are cocky not the youngsters who should ve came in ......

that's why we drew with west ham which should ve been one of the easiest matches with their form back then .... and why we drew to hull and to Portsmouth .... why we lost to wigan .... why everton came back 3 times in Stamford bridge..... i think i think our strongest possible eleven played all of those matches and still we didn't get the expected result not because of the opponents strength but because we didn't play well just like today we didn't play well at all ..... it could have been another hull or Portsmouth and i know it but that would ve been because the big players even drogba wasn't at his best he just scored two easy goals from stupid mistakes from wolves defense ......

Agree!!! If we were 7 nil up maybe being more confused over why he didnt bring them on but we were only 2-0 up and Wolves were giving it such a go and only takes one and then panic. And seeing as Man U had lost and time to take advantage understand it even more. And in the end we got the result
