Wasnt a red card or a penalty, or at least it wouldnt have been for any other team but Chelsea. Absolutely should have it rescinded but would still be very surprised if it was.

Been turned down shock horror:

The appeal against Ashley Cole's sending-off during Boxing Day's game versus Aston Villa has been rejected.

An FA statement reads:

At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea's Ashley Cole was rejected.

He will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect.

If it was a straight red card he automatically gets a 3 match ban, for him to only get a 1 match ban sticks like a pile of bullshit to me.

straight red is 3, 2 yellows is 1. I'm confused as fuck anyway. They obviously dont like to be proved wrong so if they reduce the bans then it's like the easy things to do. They clearly dont like recinding reds do they because it would make their referee's look bad getting proved wrong. Weird.
