BlueLion. 21,491
I can see Yuri leaving, and that's through no fault of his own - Cole and Malouda are just simply fucking brilliant. Still I rate him and thought he was excellent when Cole was out between February and April - and I personally think that Yuri will play more games this season. He's our best cover for LB and I can see him playing in the CM positions quite often this year as cover for Essien/Mikel/Lampard/Ramires. BLionheart 516
zhirkov is a very good player who can play in so many different places (LB - LCM - WF) . but honestly i don't think his departure would have a bad effect on us , we have the LB covered with PVA and betrand . the CM we have lamps , essien , mikel , ramires also malouda and benayoun can be used there . and for the left winger we have malouda , kalou , anelka , sturridge and kakuta who can play there .so you will always find benayoun and malouda getting a nod in-front of him to replace lamps , also kalou , kakuta and sturridge ahead of him to replace malouda , he is only first back up for ashley cole and we have two very promising youngsters in that area . so if we can get back our 18 millions , i wouldn't have any problems with letting him go for that price . chrismada9 1,948
If Zhirkov feels confident he can get a place in the team, then he will train harder, and then hopefully we can see the best out of him. Ashley Cole and FloMo are on top form at the moment, and that's what makes me worried about him. He's such a useful player to us I feel. He needs to be given more games. gary gordon 1,777
I feel sorry for Yury. He is a good talent but he has come to Chelsea at the wrong time. . Malouda and Cole are too good to replace and unfortunatley i can only see Yury getting a run in League cup games and FA Cup..
BlueLion. 21,491
Okay, I'm really concerned. This source - http://www.yanks-abr...content&id=7383 - says Zhirkov is struggling from a calf muscle strain, but he has not played since November. I've had my share of calf injuries, and I promise, no matter how severe the strain is, it does not result in 3 and a half months out with injury.I have two major concerns - how is Yury, but perhaps most importantly, what the fuck are our medical team up to? LDN Blue 7,903
I've been trying to find something for months now (as my status shows). The club won't say anything. Typically.I stop questioning our medical team, it's not our place to comment. We can't speculate how they work because there's no proof they're not working efficiently. It's quite harsh to blame them for lack of information.
Wilson 358
I feel sorry for Zhirkov. Doesn't get played in his preferred position, doesn't get a game much and now injuries. Seems to have been a waste of 18m. Is there time or another final chance for him to start playing and shining?
Tomo 21,751
Just assume he is out for the season, its what i did with Lampard earlier this season and Essien last season that way you wont be disapointed
Styles 9,790
What a waste of space and money. I'd terminate his contract in the summer if only to have a free slot avialble for a foreign player. You can forget about trying to recoup some money, who on earth would want this waste of space?£18M was it? What a joke.

Tomo 21,751
You could say he had a hand in us winning the league last season.Shackeled Valencia at Old Toilet. After watching a re-run of the Bolton match in April i was shocked at the amount of vital tackles and interceptions he put it, without him we might have dropped points and possibly lost the league. Styles 9,790
Can't blame him for being injured & our inability to negotiate an appropriate price. He comes across as weak with a very low pain threshold. I don't even know what the purpose of signing him was. £18M for a left sided player who is nowhere near as good as Ashley or Malouda. You don't spend that much on what is essentially a back-up.The term abject failure was created for transfers like this.

Because he doesn't have a star name that doesn't mean he is not good enough. In Russia he was one of the best players, nicknamed 'Russian Ronaldinho' which was a not a coincidence. He was coming here to fill the left flank and IF he had a proper chance to prove his worth, he would be on of the best players in the league, as every time (twice, only twice!) he played as a left winger, he was outstanding. He was pretty unlucky with his injuries and with Malouda who was in the form of his life last year. This season he is a poor shit, like almost everybody. We know Chelsea are awful in the art of negotiations, so we shouldn't hold this against him.

True_Blue 469
Zhirkov is quality and he can play in various positions,it is not his fault he is injured. If he wasn't i am sure he would perform a lot of better than most of our current first team players. Kostas 1,468
Regardless of how Essien performs after his injury I think Ramires' case was pretty similar.Still I wouldn't speak ill of Zhirkov until I know he's breathing.
