the wes 7,212
Aston Villa and Barcelona are chasing Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne. The England Under-21 international defender is out of contract next summer and is said to be frustrated at the lack of first- team opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Despite earning rave reviews on loan at Wolves, he knows John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex remain ahead of him at Chelsea — and he has yet to make his first- team bow.http://www.tribalfootball.com/aston-villa-...ancienne-227438
Kez 2,727
Oh for god sake if a team like Barca is after him he's clearly worth keeping. Give him a new contract and get him in the team before we lose him
BlueLion. 21,491
The fact it says 'he has yet to make his first-team bow' suggests that's a load of crap anyway
Elliott 7
Michael MancienneBorn is Isleworth, Middlesex, but of Seychelles descent (he turned down the chance to represent the Seychelles at International level in favour of England (wise move)), Michael is a local boy who has been with the club since age 8. A composed and elegant player, he can play at centre-back, right-back and also in midfield. It has taken him some time to break into the Chelsea first team with several false dawns, but it is clear we have a youth product of real quality.Mancienne made his debut for Chelsea reserves while he was still at school. He turned professional in January 2006 and made his first appearance on the Chelsea first team bench at the end of the 2005/2006 season, although he did not play. He took part in Chelsea's pre-season preparations in 2006 including a place on the bench for the Community Shield, but finding himself well down the pecking order, he was off to Loftus Road for a season long loan spell with Queens Park Rangers, making his first 30 professional appearances, impressing at Championship level. This season he has spent time at Championship high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers but was recalled to the Chelsea first team squad in January. He has been called up for the first time to the England national squad, and this has been followed by his first three apperances in a Chelsea first team shirt: In the FA Cup win away to Watford, in the Champions League home win against Juventus and his full Premier League debut at home to Wigan Athletic.Michael Mancienne has a bright future as a Chelsea player and an England International. bombayblue™ 55
can see him as a permanent squad member from now on... would be really gutted if we signed another CB/RB or asked him to go on loan..
TrueChelseaBlue 105
Been out on loan far too many times, his first Chelsea start was way over-due, and now he's had the chance, hopefully he can convince the Club, not to loan him out again, but to play him more often. BlueLion. 21,491
I certainly wouldn't loan him out again, he's impressed me in the few games he has played.
5354 204
but there is still adequate covers for defenders, isn;t it? ferrira, essien[RB], ivanovic....
Elliott 7
Nevermind Essien as cover for defence, what's the point when we have a player of Mancienne's ability to cover instead?
Cameron 30
I'd only let him go on loan again if it was to a Premiership side where he'd starts most games.
Elliott 7
Don't see the point in that, at his age we might as keep him and use him or sell him.
Alee. 182
MICK McCARTHY is lining up a Mancienne is Wolves target Mick McCARTHY is lining up a £4million bid for Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne as he prepares for the Premier League. McCarthy wants to bring the England under-21 star back to Wolves this summer. Mancienne impressed at Molineux on loan earlier this season and was recalled by Chelsea in January to challenge for a place at Stamford Bridge. But the 21-year-old has only made one league start under Guus Hiddink and McCarthy wants him to strengthen his newly-promoted side. £ 4m Bid
BlueLion. 21,491
Season long loan in the top flight maybe? Would be ideal.
EskWeston 696
Season long loan in the top flight maybe? Would be ideal. I agree, depending on the situation here at Chelsea with regards to players comming and going, a season long loan in the Premiership would be fantastic for Michael. Infact in many ways it would be better for him than staying with us next season.
