the wes 7,212
PHIL SCOLARI has only one thing on his Christmas list — a new striker. </h2> Chelsea's boss feels he has been a good boy this year by going to bed early and working within the club's vastly reduced transfer budget. Now, though, the Brazilian admits he cannot play Scrooge any longer. He is going cap in hand to Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon to ask for the money for a new frontman, because Stamford Bridge's treatment room is so ho-ho-overcrowded! Big Phil agreed with the Chelsea board he would not be able to splash the cash when he took over in the summer. And he declared: "I know it's a different time now for Chelsea from when I took over. But I knew then that if I had more injuries now, they would understand. I will need to replace some players. They understand this. It is normal. "I think it's a maximum one player they'll replace, because we need only one more player. A striker. "For the game against Arsenal, I lost two strikers in Franco Di Santo and Didier Drogba. I had only Nicolas Anelka. For the game at Bolton I have only Anelka, too. "If I have one more player in very good condition, I'll have more options for change sometimes. Options to play two strikers or something different. "Maybe you'll say on arrival I sold many players. But 34 is too many for a coach." Scolari has been linked with a move for Portugal Under-21 striker Orlando Sa but has ruled out going for CSKA Moscow star Vagner Love. He added: "Vagner Love is a very good player, who played in Palmeiras after I was there. Now he's in Russia playing well but I'm not thinking about A, B or C. I have some names." Sporting Braga ace Sa is a likelier bet, having trained with Chelsea this week. Braga president Antonio Salvador said: "Orlando is in England with our permission. I'm speaking with his representative about this situation." Edited December 6, 2008 by the wes

Aesthetic Relic 301
I dont rate this guy Vagner Love at all. I've seen him play a few times and he's not all that. Instead of shelling out for a striker in January we cant get any use out of if he's cup tied or whatever, I'd rather bring back Pizarro and wait till the summer and go all out for a top class striker. He's not a fan like us so I don't think there's any love lost.
