Kenyon - No Pressure On Scolari

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon says manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's job is safe as a Champions League win remains top of the wish list.

The storm clouds are suddenly hovering above Big Phil following the Carling Cup exit, Champions League stumble and indifferent Premier League home form.

Kenyon says the World Cup winning coach has already made a “huge impact” on Chelsea’s style of play which had been an issue under his predecessors Avram Grant and Jose Mourinho.

“He knows what we want to achieve and that’s why he joined us. He felt then, in August, that he had the squad to do that and he still feels as though he has the squad to do that,” Kenyon said.

“He wants to take us to the next level, to win the Champions League.

“Look at the record of the club in the last five years. I think it’s been pretty significant. How do you improve that?

“By going to the next level, which is not just getting to the Champions League final but winning it and regaining The Premiership.

“If you do any of those, you’ve moved the club on from last season. He’s got a three-year contract.”

After such a good start, questions are now being asked of Scolari. I hope he has the answers.

Our current form is worrying and this game coming up against Cluj will make or break our season imo.

I really do feel they want Scolari to build something in the next 3 years and i DO think his job is safe. We have had a bit of a tough time recently but overall we have had a very good season so far and i think we will turn it back round again very soon.

Scolari doesnt sound off about being under pressure, but hes probably not bothered either way...

“In January, if I have something to buy one player or another, OK. If I don’t have, it’s not a problem for me because I have a good squad, I like this squad. Maybe some clubs want one of my players and the time is for change. I give you this and you give me that.”

This is all very resourceful , but this cost-cutting could quite easily leave us behind an energised United, not just in May but in the long-term as well........

The big question that Abramovich is toying with imo is....

"Do we need to spend money in January?"

I think we do. We were in a simlar situation 2 seasons ago when we desperately needed some defenders. Abramovich wouldnt shell out and it cost us the title in the end.

I dont want his stubborness to cost us the title this year again. We need a player(s) who'll find ways around those tight defences which we cant seem to do atm at home. I couldnt give a toss about the CL. I want to be champions of England first, anything else is a bonus.

Too right. Its fine shelling out for AmyWinewarehouse to play at his new bit of minges do in Russia, and spending £40 million on a picture of a fat nude bird for her, but get yer priorities right Roman. -Chelsea first. And cheer up for fucks sake, you're minted.

(Thursday rant over :) )

I was saying exactly the same thing the other day. Like it or not, the fact is from the minute Roman started refusing to hand over money, we've stopped challenging on the same level we used to. We might be competing, but our lack of trophies goes hand in hand with our lack of spending imo. Every side needs to freshen up as time passes, we have never added enough to our championship winning side to sustain the level we were playing at and Fergie was right unfortunately, it is hard to see what else the side we've got has got to give.

Meanwhile, the Russian continues to refuse his manager's money, whilst he's happy to shell out £3.4million for Hiddink's wages. WTF is that about?

So you're basically saying we did buy the trophies?

Bored with us or patriotism?

I've always maintained it takes more than just money to be successful - as Man City will no doubt prove, lol - but of course to an extent our success was funded by Abramovich, yes. Whilst we were there or thereabouts before Roman, we were never able to quite make the step up as Champions until we could compete financially. And unfortunately, if he's now going to refuse to freshen up the squad when there's clearly a need for it, we'll be falling behind our rivals again.

As for the second question Biru, it could be a bit of both?
