the wes 7,212
THE future of striker Didier Drogba has overshadowed Chelsea's preparations for tonight's crucial Champions League clash against Bordeaux. Chelsea were refusing to become embroiled in yet more controversy over their Ivory Coast striker after it was alleged that Inter Milan's sporting director Marco Branca had met Drogba in a Fulham restaurant on Monday night. that Inter coach and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, and the player's representative were also present at the dinner meeting. Although Mourinho later claimed to know nothing about the alleged meeting, Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was clearly on edge when asked if Drogba had met Branca. "I do not sleep with him (Drogba)," retorted Scolari. "Where he was last night? I don't know. I am not a policeman for my players." But when the Brazilian was asked to clarify if Drogba had been given permission to be in the company of Branca, Scolari's tone worsened. "Ask Peter Kenyon (chief executive), ask Roman Abramovich, I don't know, I am only the coach." Earlier Scolari had maintained that it was the work of agents trying to shift players to other clubs but Chelsea refused to comment. The club were aware that it was circulating yesterday afternoon but were determined not to discuss the issue. Scolari has not yet spoken to the player about the issue but there is little doubt it will be discussed. Mourinho insists he has no plans to bring his former player to the San Siro despite the latest link. "I don't know where Branca was, I was at dinner at Cernobbio," he said. "I know absolutely nothing about this story. "I know on the other hand that Drogba is part of the history of Chelsea and, from afar, it seems to me that he is and will be a Chelsea player." Drogba was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer but decided to remain with the Blues. However, he missed over a month of the season with a knee injury and caused controversy in his comeback match when he threw a coin back at Burnley fans in Chelsea's Carling Cup defeat – earning himself a three-match ban in the process. Drogba is still serving that suspension in England but can take part in European competitions and is part of the Chelsea squad in Bordeaux. Scolari's mood darkened the moment Drogba's future was raised and it certainly will not have helped his preparation for such a vital game against Laurent Blanc's side. A win will see Chelsea, who are one point ahead of Roma and Bordeaux, qualify for the knockout stages but a defeat would plunge them into a tense last round game against CFR Cluj at Stamford Bridge. It is a critical moment in Scolari's fledgling Chelsea career and the coach knows it. Chelsea hammered Bordeaux 4-0 at Stamford Bridge but so far in Europe, Scolari's side have yet to taste victory on their travels. "We need to qualify," he said. "We need to get to the second stage. We lost one chance against Roma, this will be our second chance. "In the Champions League we are up against teams that finished first, second or third in their country. Maybe we are more adapted to England than playing away in the Champions League?" http://sport.scotsman.com/sport/Drogba-in-...k-to.4730769.jp
warnie_666 1,081
This guy pisses me off. Recently he wished to stay at Chelsea and now secretly tried to strike a deal with Inter. And he has refused to comment on it. Which means something is seriously brewing.....Use him till the end of December and kick him out. Had enough of him!!! .Cee 50
Yeah, well, if it's true I can't see him going in Jan as he's cup-tied. If we can get Balotelli in a swap deal with a few millions thrown in then we should go for it. Similar to Ashley Cole swap deal.

Fulham Broadway 17,319
Theres no loyalty from 99% of players. They just know how to hide it. Drogba wears his heart (sometimes foolishly) on his sleeve. Theres also the element of press cajoling him into saying things, and sleazy agents touting there players to the highest bidder. Top forward most of the time, wouldnt have two titles and cups without him. I really dont think anyone at the club wants him to tell him to 'fuck off'
True_Blue 469
If he wishes to leave we should not stop him, sell him in summer to Inter or wherever he wants to go,cash in and buy a younger striker, because these situations are just becoming laughable. .Cee 50
Adriano He parties a lot and seems to have issues with the former manager so I don't think he'd be a good option. He was sent on loan to Brazil because of that recently, wasn't he?

Stamford 3
He pisses me off, but I am not sure how much of what he says is twisted by hacks. I think he should shut his mouth and concentrate on being what he is, and that is a world class striker that we would be extremely foolish to get rid of. He was monumental in our fight for the Premier league and coaxed properly will be again. Yes he is getting on, and yes there is a need for a younger talented striker at the club. But lets not lose sight of the part that Drogba has played in our success.
pippin 0
he has done a lot for the club but maybe he wants a fresh challenge if he wants to go fine . there really is no point in keeping players who dont want to play for us. having said that it could all be paper talk as usual

Aesthetic Relic 301
Jose saying he knows nothing about it?.....well knowing Jose I wouldnt trust him as far as I could throw him. Dodgy deals being done in London restaurants.....we've been there before. Have the club/Drogba denied anything happened? If it has happened then as a person I wont be sad to see him go, he's pissed about too much over the years for my liking. As a player he's been unelivable at times. On form theres no-one out there who comes close to him.
