I'm not a big fan of Mikel but he had a good game yesterday but saying that he was up against a weak city team

considering the midfielders he was up against, i thought he could have done a bit better. lost a few too many duels

Mikel (on Guus): “He treats us like professional footballers. It takes a lot for Diego to be in a good mood but he is.”

indeed - that would make it far more convenient for next time when Hiddink takes over - which will be as soon as when our next manager gets sacked... :D

He also said how they all want him to stay:

Guus Hiddink stay wanted by '99 percent' of Chelsea players - Mikel http://espnfc.com/chelsea/story/2812736/hiddink-stay-wanted-by-99-percent-of-chelsea-players-mikel

........ This happened before when he was here and the players wanted him to stay.....

Might as well give him is final "Cahill" long term contract then I guess. He's 28 right?

Yup. Think a 3-year deal would make sense in relation to his age and market value.

John Obi Mikel’s agent has confirmed the player has put talks over a new contract at Chelsea on hold until the summer.

Mikel, who joined the Blues a decade ago, has been invented under Guus Hiddink and the club had been keen to renew his current contract.

However, the 28-year-old’s agent says he has put talks over a new deal on hold and will wait until the end of the season before sorting out his future.

‘Chelsea have approached him for an extension,’ his agent explained.

‘But he said after the season he’ll decide.

‘He has many teams interested – almost three clubs in China want him.’

Mikel is in the prime of his career and his next contract is likely to be his last big one – so getting it right will be very important.
