Fulham Broadway 17,331
Fans have reacted with anger and frustration after the sold-out Women’s Super League match between Chelsea and Manchester United next Sunday was postponed with just a week’s notice following the release of the Women’s Champions League group stage fixtures. Fans of both clubs labelled the decision a “farce” and an “embarrassment”, while the Chelsea Women’s Supporters Group said on X: “Absolute failure by the league. The club had to protect the players. We feel for all the supporters who have lost money on transport and hotels. As we said yesterday, it shouldn’t ever have got to this situation.” Vesper
OhForAGreavsie 6,077
Chelsea Women's Champions League campaign begins tomorrow with their first group stage fixture against Real Madrid at The Bridge. (The UWCL switches to the single league format from next season, when a second tier European competition for women's teams will also be introduced.) Manager Sonia Bompastor, and captain Millie Bright, spoke to the media this afternoon about tomorrow's match. The game can be viewed on DAZN's YouTube channel. Kick off is at 20:00 BST. Highlights of last season's away group fixture with Real. A game which, it's fair to say, the girl's felt was stolen from them by the officiating. Fulham Broadway 17,331
Chelsea opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 win against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Sjoeke Nusken and Guro Reiten put the Blues 2-0 up, only for Alba Redondo to pull a goal back for the visitors before the break. Mayra Ramirez, who played for Spanish side Levante between 2022 and 2024, scored Chelsea’s third and although Linda Caicedo came off the bench to make it 3-2 late on, Madrid slipped to a first defeat of the season. mkh, Vesper and OhForAGreavsie

She's officially at the match to watch Emily Fox and Cat Macario. Both of whom are getting called up for Emma's next squad whether she sees them play live or not. 🙂 Fulham Broadway

OhForAGreavsie 6,077
Important win for the women last night against title rivals Man City. The victory takes us two points clear at the top, with a game in hand, and a big goal difference advantage too. Fulham Broadway 17,331
Chelsea have won 11 successive matches since the Frenchwoman took over from Emma Hayes in the summer and sit top of the Women's Super League (WSL) table. Their 3-0 win over Celtic in the Women's Champions League on Wednesday meant they reached the quarter-finals with two group games to spare. "As a club it's always important to make sure after four games you have the opportunity to qualify," said Bompastor. OhForAGreavsie 6,077
Ever since the England vs USA international last November there have been rumours about US centre-back Naomi Girma joining us. Those rumours have really gathered pace over the last week, and it is now being reported in The States that the world record transfer has been completed. Girma is widely regarded as the top defender in women's football. Former Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has described her as the best defender she has ever seen. The fee is said to be $1.1 million. That would beat the current women's world record transfer fee by a little under $500,000 although there are rumours of Chelsea's French international right back Eve Periset going to San Diego as part of the deal. It is also being widely reported that the club will be selling a stake in our women's team to an outside investor. It's not impossible I suppose that some of the money from this proposed sale is earmarked for funding the world record fee. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soccer/news/most-expensive-players-womens-football-transfer-record/308d858c74e79a2b421a111e Edited January 21 by OhForAGreavsie
