Glory Hunter me ?

I don't know where to put this but people ( manly fan of Manure, Loserfool, Arsenal and also Celtic ) call me a glory hunter. I went to London in 1997, I bought some scarves but the one who caught my eyes was a Chelsea FC one. I said to me " I have to follow this club " . But people said to me I became fan of Chelse because they were in the FA Cup final that year. A thing I didn't know at all, I only knew it a few weeks later. Yet I decided, to follow Chelsea, I wasn't disappointed at all, I was delighted. At English side I let down Manure ( I like them 'till I discovered the Chels' ), I only got interested with them 'till 1999-2000 at European side because I'm sinds a long time in love with English football. But yet people think it's great calling me a glory hunter, can someone enlighten me ? If I was a glory hunter, I would have stick with Manure ? Don't you think so ?

Define what you think a 'gloryhunter' is??

In my books a gloryhunter is a person who jumps ship when the going gets hard and starts supporting a 'winning' team or the team winning in that particular season. And then jumps ship when that team starts to struggle.

I started supporting Chelsea after I saw them win the FA cup in 1970 as a four year old. Does that make me one? If so then I am & I'm so fucking glad I did. :blue scalf:

I dont give a wet dogs fanny how long you've been supporting a certain club, just as long as you keep supporting that club. Wether they are winning sod all or the world.

Anyway when the next scum fan calls you a GH ask them when they started supporting the scum and you will hear them say..after they won the league/FA Cup in 2000 & blah! blah! blah! :whistling:

UP THE Chelsea AND FAARK ALL THE REST!

i've thankfully never been called one because my friends know how long i've supported them

if the fans of those clubs think the main reason you started following Chelsea is because we were winning i'd like to ask them if their clubs were all losers when they started supporting them

Chelsea fans have it better anyway because we've been through the ups and (many) downs and are still here

H as long as you have a blue heart who cares what other people think ;)

Thats just my opinion. A real fan will travel with the sqaud in rain snow or sleet and cheer his team on. Then their is the fan who will be happy to watch 60 games a season on tv.

Jose Mourinho may call himself the 'Special One' but Chelsea fans might think otherwise after their former boss branded Stamford Bridge supporters as 'soft' and the 'suit-and-tie' brigade.

Mourinho left Chelsea last month after a power struggle with owner Roman Abramovich. However, he was still massive favourite with the Blues fans after delivering two league titles during his time in charge.

But, in a new book, Mourinho has spoken about about the fan culture in London - and is sure to upset the Stamford Bridge faithful. Most of the black community are fans of Arsenal, the Jewish community support Tottenham, in the most diadvantaged area of London they're fans of West Ham, and Fulham are a small club but with a strong nucleus of clubs,' said Mourinho.

'And then comes Chelsea, a cosmopolitan club with fans famous around the world, like Bryan Adams, Claudia Schiffer and Chelsea, the daughter of former president Clinton.

'And there's a common denominator among them all - they're foreigners which fits in with the general profile of the fan of the club.

'Whoever is a foreigner and leads a life above the means of the average citizen is a fan of Chelsea because Chelsa have the most expensive tickets, the most expensive meals, their social life around the games is more important than that of other clubs.

'Because they have that spending power, the Chelsea fan is more 'society' and, of course, thats reflected in the stadium with the support they give the team.

'It's the soft sort of fan who doesn't get behind the team a lot, who don't organise themselves into fan groups, with the cheering on that is charachteristic of the image of English football.

'They create a different atmosphere because a lot of our fans also go to the opera, the theatre, other types of shows that don't lend themselves to shouting. That'sthe Chelsea fan. That's why Chelsea have some difficulty in asserting themselves as a great club of English football.

Mourinho made his comments before he left Chelsea to a journalist and the quotes will feature in new book 'Jose Mourinho - Natural Winner'.

He continued: 'The club has a fan profile which distinguishes it. He's the London fan who comes from a middle-upper social area, a privileged class from a chic district of London.

'He's the suit-and-tie-fans, with economic power, almost the antithesis of the fan in England of low social status, the fan who has difficulty with coping with ticket prices, the fan who has a long support of history for the club. So we're not talking about West Ham or Arsenal.'

Thats bollocks.

I've been a Chelsea fan for 20 years and been to 3 games. The last one was just before RA took over. If I wanted to go to as many games as I could I wouldnt pay my bills and live on beans on toast. People have financial commitments amongst other things.

So does that make me a lesser fan ?

Way i see it is, if your a true Chelsea fan then you dont need to make this topic. Its like your trying to make people believe your a true fan.

Hingis have you ever been to a game?

Been to London regularly in the late 90ies but never had the chance to attend a match, unfortunatly. I hope to do so this season but it will be very difficult to get tickets.

Listen to your heart Hingis, Not what other people say. If you scream with joy when we score, and are happy all week when we win, downhearted when we concede and gutted if we lose, then I guess your a Chelsea fan.

Perfectly how I feel since 11 years 1/2 :smiliecap1:

miss, I know it looks like paranoid but hey being constantly called a glory hunt by more glory hunts than me makes me mad and at the same time laugh... I bit paradoxical, I know.

I think people who say this are just looking for an excuse thats just my opinion though. How can you support Chelsea for 20 years and only go to 3 matches thats terrible.

Yeah it's a pretty fucking good excuse Badboy, not being able to afford it.

A glory hunter is, as chelseapaul said, someone who switches side when their side is struggling. Few people actually do this. And not everyone can get to games, they most sell out remember, so plenty are always going to be missing out. To say if you can't get to games then you're not a real fan is just a pathetic way of boosting your ego. Look at me, I can, aren't a real fan! Pff.

I just dont believe it when people say they cant go the match. Look at man city they could not sell a match out since they played man utd at the start of last season. All of a sudden these arabs come in and they sell out agianst Chelsea. I bet you my bottom dollar those same fans were saying i cant afford to go to the game when thaksin was in charge.
