Jorginho

Wonder who the backup option is if he does end up choosing City after all. At this point Seri would be pretty damn underwhelming. Plus, there's a reason no other big club has snapped him up yet.

Kovacic and Pjanic are pipe dreams.

City's PR machine firing from all cylinders ATM. Remember Dani Alves last summer, Fred a few weeks ago etc.

They are now creating this "money over Pep" thing when the only reason they are a relevant club is actually THE MONEY.

Napoli's boss said he struck a deal with City two weeks ago. So why hasn't Jorginho signed with City then? What was the hold up if indeed he wanted the move so bad as per the City journos? It's clear for me he was waiting for Sarri all along otherwise he'd have been a City player by now.

Already getting tired of this "Every City target should join them for Pep and the style of play, otherwise they are money grabbing whores". Fuck off you City twats, already a decade of pumping money into that team and you still haven't reached a Champions League semifinal yet.

They have very short memories.

Silva, Aguero, Robinho, Kolorov, Kompany, the list goes on and on.

Are they suggesting that Mahrez wants to give up first team football because he loves the idea of training with Pep and living his dream of competing in the League Cup?  Maybe he moved for the pay?

Even Real Madrid don't get everything they want (just most of the time).

Stability vs Instability.

Increasingly popular club vs One of the most unpopular clubs in world football.

Reputation, deserved or not, for attractive football vs Reputation, deserved or not, for unappealing, unattractive football.

Most highly regarded manager in the world vs Complete uncertainty.

A club generally thought to be on the up vs A club widely thought to be in decline.

Examples: -

Monaco revealed that Mendy told them he would not have left for Chelsea but that he could not resist Pep & City

Danilio revealed that he had been offered a better deal by Chelsea but chose City anyway despite Chelsea also being the team more likely to use him as a starter.

Antonio confirmed that he wanted Walker but that the player was only interested in City.

Stones talked about how glad he was that the move to Chelsea fell through.

The comment I made is, I fear, a rather obvious statement of fact.

This is why we have no chance of signing Jorginho. Statement of fact.

Anyway, what's really funny is that there are posters over on Bluemoon who are criticizing the deal saying that he's only gone for the money.  What short memories some people have.  The irony is up there with Maradona calling England dirty cheats.

Honestly, having been over 10 years on this forum, we are not any different in this regard. Many fans are hypocritical with this money talk. I have done the same - slating richer clubs and greedy players, but the truth is we ourselves would be nowhere near where we are without Roman's money.

All we have heard so far is Man City believing Jorginho want them and not us. If that's the case, then why not go back in and outbid us? Unless they do so, it will be a case of them just trying to save face, like what others have suggested.

I don't disagree.  There's a direct correlation between wages and league positions.

Money always talks, especially when it comes to employment.

Jorginho was even more of a pipe dream... until yesterday.

These two are being quoted as costing 80m or more. Plus, Pjanic surely won't want to leave when CR7 just arrived.

Two main points that made Jorginho look impossible until yesterday.

1) He had already agreed personal terms with City.
2) We are very shit at dealing with Napoli.

Out of those three I would have considered Jorginho the most pipey and Kovacic the most likely.

I really think we got lucky here.  The right player at the right time.  Selling Jorginho to us really saves face for both Chelsea and Napoli.  We were locked in a stupid game of chicken over Sarri.

Chelsea get to "gazzump" City for Jorginho and get Sarri as well

Napoli get their fees for both Jorginho and Sarri.

Its win-win.

Except for City, but fuck 'em.  Just because you have Pep and lots of money doesn't mean that dealing with ADL and Napoli is a walk in the park.  Welcome to the club.
