We're not even talking the need to be Jorginho standard on the ball. Kante isn't the most technical player on the ball and his other strengths such as pressing, winning the ball, etc are far more important all round for the team, but at least he can control the ball and pass to a more than competent level. I watch Bakayoko and I don't understand how a professional player, playing at the very highest level, can be so inept on the ball. "Too physical" is just the nice way of saying "Can't stop or pass a football". positivefootball and Unionjack

The player is not culpable; our staff is (esp scouts). He's such a poor player that he may still be a liability as a backup. He needs to go... just not good enough as a backup and blocks more promising younger players.

I was going to turn into jose mourinho and compare players with red wine (instead of eggs), but decided not to. Does it make a difference if you hand over the ball via a brain fart vs the inaptitude of making a simple pass vs being immobile (and easily skipped past)? Mikel is Cahill while Bakayoko is David Luiz. OK maybe Bakayoko is the worst of Cahill and DL?

Pretty physical too, so definitely an interesting player. Just don't think he's mentally fit to be a great CB (again we are talking about 'great' here). I honestly think DL might have become a fucking great CM (not even DM) had he moved into midfield and applied himself. The skill and physicality were all there. I think he's going to be good this year. His positioning won't be so much of an issue when we have the ball 65% of the time.

Still would rather have had David Luiz in midfield against Belgium than fucking Fernandinho (choke) or chinese Paulinho against Belgium.... that's over and now we are back to real football... with fucking bakayoko

Sevilla is a stripped club compared to past powerhouse teams they had. Nzonzi, who plays same position as Bakayoko is their only player remotely worth what what Bakayoko is (Ben Yedder maybe maybe) Their main signing so far was Ibrahim Amadou from Lille, ANOTHER DMF. His problem was a mental issue where he had time on the ball to think and do something he'd more often than not fail. When he didn't have time and he had to do something reactive he was effective. There are lots of players like that over the years for Chelsea. The likes of SWP and Kalou were similar. Torres you could argue was similar too. Bakayoko to put it simply isn't technically good enough whether it's in a reactive or proactive way. Add to that his confidence is rock bottom and he looks laboured, and we literally have the worst player on our hands since Torres given the money we paid out for him (with Morata not far behind).
