EskWeston 696
And then where would Deco play Esk? These players have to be part of a squad! We have to have more than the 11 who will play in a game. I have said loads of times that it is massively risky to have so much quality as back up - BUT if it can be managed well by Scolari then there is no reason why it can't be done. Considering also half of our midfield is in their 30's it is likely that we would be able to rotate enough to give everyone enough game time. DavidEU 2,023
Hmm, in my opinion, Arshavin and Deco will both play. I don't necessarily see us having wingers next year... just 3 attacking midfielders playing behind a loan striker... Or a winger one side, who will switch side's every so often, and two AM's. (Deco, Arshavin, or even Ballack). ----- Another article from the Russian paper Tvoi Den: http://www.tden.ru/articles/sport/032457/ [Arshavin] will obtain in “Chelsea” 8000000 Euros The London club agreed to pay out to Russian player the record wage “Your DAY” became known that the personal contract of that attacking team Russia Andrey [Arshavina] with London “Chelsea” provides for astronomical wage - eight million Euro per year. Every week [Arshavin] will obtain about 160 thousand Euros. - Negotiations between the owner “Chelsea” by Roman Abramovich and With [arshavinym] began even in the course of championship, described to us source. - Player originally required 10 million Euros, but on the motion of tournament Andrey decreased his appetites. His solution influenced the proposals from other clubs. In the same “Barcelona” To [arshavinu] they proposed only six millions per year. Therefore Andrey was forced to agree to Roman Arkadyevich's conditions. At the final agreement Andrey [Arshavin] and owner “of Chelsea” arrived immediately after the end of the semi-final match of the championship of Europe between the teams of Russia and Spain. All necessary for the completion transactions of paper will be soon signed. But 27-year football player himself recently must depart into London to the medical examination. Record Let us recall that in “the zenith” Andrey recently earned three million Euro for the season. In order to hold football player in Peter, the owners of club proposed five millions to it. Such money in our country obtains not one football player. However, “Chelsea” broke this record. However, for Europe such money - not limit. For example, the Belorussian Alexander Gleb earned in “the arsenal” 12 million Euros. However, specialists note that in Russia the low in comparison with England wages with the interest are compensated by bonus. Furthermore, in Europe much higher taxes. Money “Chelsea” on the summer transfer market behaves actively. According to our information, Abramovich isolated to the new head coach of Louis [Felippe]'s [londontsev] [skolari] to the purchase of the players of 250 million pounds. So that, besides the acquisition Of [arshavina], us wait in the very near future still several loud transactions. Let us recall that recently the London club already acquired the pet Of [skolari] - Portugese the sounding board, with which it successfully worked even in national team Portugal. EskWeston 696
looks like Chelsea widrew from the chase good choice I wouldn't count on it. The reason they have claimed is because we have signed Deco, but the stories about Arshavin comming to London ect.. were well after Deco signed. Fulham Broadway 17,350
Arshavin has been banned from training with the rest of the Zenit St Petersburg squad while he sorts out where he will play next season. Zenit manager Dick Advocaat claims a deal for Arshavin should be concluded this week and the playmaker’s agent, Dennis Lachter, believes it is “most likely” he will end up at Chelsea or Arsenal -though this is dependent on whether Hleb or Lampard clear off. They (Arsenal or Chelsea) need to better the £12million bid Zenit last night rejected from Barcelona. Express News
EskWeston 696
Really not sure how to take this story!! We certainly don't need to push too hard and go overboard with the transfer fee because we are well stocked for midfielders. Would like to see us actively seeking to bring some wingers in. Fulham Broadway 17,350
Where did it all go wrong ??? One minute you're on the crest of a wave, the next you're a crack whore or worse..... ''Andrei Arshavin's agent has told Sky Sports News that the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker would be interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur''. BlueLion. 21,491
We don't need him. Ballack, Essien, Lampard, Mikel and Deco are five top class midfielders, I don't think Arshavin is good enough.

chrismada9 1,948
I don't think Arshavin is good enough. Ok, yes it would be hard for him to get into a starting eleven, but I wouldn't say he isn't good enough. I think he'd fit nicely into any big side, providing he is played in his preferred role. Milan 17,963
Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin has set his sights on a move to Manchester United or Chelsea after his club have agreed to let him leave. Arshavin was expected to join Barcelona and then Tottenham following an impressive Euro 2008 helping Russia reach the semi-finals. However, Zenit held a tight grip over the 27-year-old and priced him out of the market but they now appear to have admitted defeat in their bid to keep the playmaker. Arshavin has welcomed the news but seems to have switched his sights from Spurs to champions Manchester United and Chelsea. "I still have a desire to play abroad and I'd like to play either in Spain or England," he said in The Sun. "Barcelona are my favourite team and in England there is Manchester United and Chelsea." Zenit general manager Maxim Mitrofanov has confirmed that his side's creative spark could be on his way to Eastern Europe. "We gave Arshavin permission to negotiate directly with other clubs," he said. "Usually a player who has a running contract with a team isn't allowed to do it. But Zenit are prepared to consider any offers for Arshavin." skysports
Steve 10,227
as a player he is good but personally i do not want to see him play for us i think our midfield is strong enough and i do not think he will suit our team, and i also do not think he will suit the premiere league because it might be a bit to physical for him and he will not get as much room on the ball as he would like.
