looks like Chelsea widrew from the chase

good choice

I wouldn't count on it. The reason they have claimed is because we have signed Deco, but the stories about Arshavin comming to London ect.. were well after Deco signed.

Arshavin has been banned from training with the rest of the Zenit St Petersburg squad while he sorts out where he will play next season.

Zenit manager Dick Advocaat claims a deal for Arshavin should be concluded this week and the playmaker’s agent, Dennis Lachter, believes it is “most likely” he will end up at Chelsea or Arsenal -though this is dependent on whether Hleb or Lampard clear off.

They (Arsenal or Chelsea) need to better the £12million bid Zenit last night rejected from Barcelona.

Really not sure how to take this story!! We certainly don't need to push too hard and go overboard with the transfer fee because we are well stocked for midfielders.

Would like to see us actively seeking to bring some wingers in.

Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin has set his sights on a move to Manchester United or Chelsea after his club have agreed to let him leave.

Arshavin was expected to join Barcelona and then Tottenham following an impressive Euro 2008 helping Russia reach the semi-finals.

However, Zenit held a tight grip over the 27-year-old and priced him out of the market but they now appear to have admitted defeat in their bid to keep the playmaker.

Arshavin has welcomed the news but seems to have switched his sights from Spurs to champions Manchester United and Chelsea.

"I still have a desire to play abroad and I'd like to play either in Spain or England," he said in The Sun.

"Barcelona are my favourite team and in England there is Manchester United and Chelsea."

Zenit general manager Maxim Mitrofanov has confirmed that his side's creative spark could be on his way to Eastern Europe.

"We gave Arshavin permission to negotiate directly with other clubs," he said.

"Usually a player who has a running contract with a team isn't allowed to do it. But Zenit are prepared to consider any offers for Arshavin."

as a player he is good but personally i do not want to see him play for us i think our midfield is strong enough and i do not think he will suit our team, and i also do not think he will suit the premiere league because it might be a bit to physical for him and he will not get as much room on the ball as he would like.
