James 5,311
When anchor man Nemanja Matic was signed by Chelsea in the winter of 2014 for £21 million from Benfica, he was hailed as the defensive shield the West London club had lacked for years since the retirement of French man Claude Makelele in 2008. It was surprising that Matic was a reserve player for Chelsea View the full article
Blue Armour 4,439
Hell yeah we should...don't have much luxury in squad depth to give away players, especially in that CDM position. Already gave away Ramires, without getting a decent replacement.
TheIceMan 596
Yeah! Kinda! Maybe! Why Not!
King11Didier 916
He has proven himself and I think he is more than decent player who deserves to play in Chelsea. The new seasons starts and I hope Matic to find his form again and prove why he is needed here. Also, if the club decide to sell him, just please don't sell him to a rival club in PL. coolhead23 1,147
Havent read the article ... But why shouldnt we hold on to him ... one bad season wouldnt/shouldnt make him a bad player ... One thing Conte will like about him is Conte is discipline and if we can make a good B2B signing, Matic will be the key in the middle for Conte's plan .. So yes we should definitely hold on to him
kellzfresh 7,229
We can't sign anyone, so there's no chance of selling him
Fernando 6,585
No just like Hazard he will be back next season. Sell only if he wants to leave.
CHOULO19 24,332
I don't think the question should be at all whether we should let him go. Simply, if he wants to stay prove that last season was a fluke he should of course be given the opportunity to but also if he wants to leave he should absolutely be allowed to as well. MrExcalibur100 7,124
Hell no. Matic not too long ago was the best DM in the league and arguably in the world. His slump came as a result of Mourinho running him and several others to the ground, hence the simultaneous nature of the slump. The difference is that some other players managed to snap out of it quicker. With a fresh start under Conte, and hopefully partnered next to a guy like Witsel, not a defensive liability like Fab, Matic will be back to his best again. You can't question class. Same way i'll never question the class of the likes of Hazard, Courtois or Azpiliqueta. Form is temporary, class is permanent. I'll rather see the back of Oscar before contemplating selling Matic. Just no.
