Napoli's outspoken president Aurelio De Laurentiis says the Serie A side have rejected an offer of €100million for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Kalidou Koulibaly was the subject of a €100million offer from a Premier League club, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Senegal defender Koulibaly starred as Napoli pushed Juventus hard in the Serie A title race last season, although they eventually fell short.

The centre-back, who played all three games at the World Cup for his country, has long been a reported transfer target for Chelsea and Manchester United.

Chelsea appointed former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri to replace Antonio Conte and have already signed Jorginho from the Partenopei.

The last 2 (especially LPool) make the most sense

they both are short a world class CB (I detest Otamendi and Stones, and obviously the Scousers need a partner for Virgil, as Lovren is SHIT

Proof of height (that the 1.95m of Napoli listing was tosh) in fact he may not even be 1.87m

 

Salif Sane (number 6) is listed at 1.96m and on his left is number 13, Alfred N'Diaye, who is listed in TM as 1.87m as well, and is obviously taller, although look at his feet, he (N'Diaye) is raising up onto toes a bit

Indeed looks strange more lik 183 there...Most footballers are a few cms shorter in reality than on their tm page. I once was at public Bayern training with guys like Gomez, Boateng, Gustavo and I towered them all. But KK managed to fool the entire Footy world pretending to be about 10cms taller by the looks of it that is some feat in itself

I am 1.83m (I know, tall for a girl, but not so much here in Stockholm as opposed to when I am in London) so maybe I chase him down for the real tell, lolol

Yes, between that and seeing his real height after many many times watching Napoli, I am not so crazed to get him as I was 2 years ago (when I was crazed to get him and Alex Sandro and Nainggolan)

I think we can officially pull the plug on ever getting him.

He signed a new 5 year contract with Napoli 10 days ago, and I do not think there is even a release clause for non Serie A teams now (there never was for Italian teams after Juve took Higuain a couple years ago).

Even if we did buy him next year, we only get 2 seasons out of him before he hits 30. There is zero reason anyone should pay £90m or £100m for a player you only will get 2 sub 30yo years out of, especially a CB, which after DMF is the hardest, most taxing position to play, especially in the EPL. Fernandinho is literally the only over 30yo DMF in the world who is remotely even close to world class, and I predict he was issues starting this year (as he turns 34 in the spring). Busquets (still second best DMF in world after Kante) and Matic (less so)are the only 30 year olds who are WC, or near, so it really is a young mans position far more than any other. CB in the EPL is almost as bad, but not quite.

Thats both him and Varane I've wanted we just have no chance of.. Should have got KK 2 seasons ago when we wouldn't pay out a extra £5mill for him.
