Radamel Falcao

can't agree enough. We need to be able to possess the ball and pin the opposition down in their own box area for a considerable amount of time to create these chances. Not only are we incapable of doing that but we have made not doing it our identity (some of us have even the audacity to rubbish such way of playing). In my opinion the problem has much to do with our build up play than the lack of certain quality in the squad. It is not just the pivot (although much of the blame should go to them) as it might clearly seem. I believe it is the combination of

  • the way the whole squad is positioned when Cech rolls the ball out to the defenders
  • the attacking midfielders not helping the back six in the build up
  • the tendency of our defenders not to pass to players in a 'tighter' holes b/n opposition lines
  • our inability to press the opposition, force mistakes and recycle possession (can't stress on this enough)

I believe JM is a clever guy and he understands these problems and more, he just need to grow some balls and take action

I absolutely agree with you and it baffles me how a team with the resources such as our is so utterly inept offensively, we have had access to some of the finest coaches, tacticians, players etc over the years and still continue to struggle offensively. Sometimes you wonder if we even practice any offensive drills in training. really frustrating.

Here is the difference. We've had 5 coaches in 3 yrs. When we have ONE dedicated philosophy for a number of years you will see a huge difference.

80m??

Even Gareth Bale is not worth that much.

Torres+30m is a fair deal money wise but I'd personally stick with Torres and wait for Lukaku to return next season.

That 6 month loan deal is the perfect scenario and it could very well win us the Champions league.

I believe if we get rid of Torres before the start of next season then Lukaku will have a great chance in succeeding here because Torres is one major roadblock to the Belgian's career at Chelsea. If Torres leaves then Lukaku will get the chance to fight with 1 world class striker for the sole striker role and will be regarded as second choice instead of third.

It'd be better for Lukaku and the club to have a strikeforce of- Falaco,Lukaku, some third choice striker-(eto'o)( Ba will definitely leave in the summer) than to have

Torres,Lukaku and some wold class striker.

"Falcao has asked to leave the club on-loan after growing increasingly unhappy with his current contract, where he is earning just under €7m-a-year"

Oh my god ONLY 7m a year! Rescue this poor man. What an idiot! He signed the contract, stay in Monaco.

Yep. Bale's unbelievably absurd transfer fee probably ruins any hope we have of signing away a world class player for "reasonable" money.

Clubs will look at their players like Falcao, Suarez etc and say "well if Gareth Bale went for that amount, our player is better so he should be more expensive." Similar to the Torres effect.

We have no shot of signing Falcao. That ship has sailed.

We can't really complain, we are part of those group of clubs that started it. PSG, Man City and Real Madrid are other members. The likes of Barcelona, Bayern just merely joining in because they don't have a choice. Now pretty much any world class player have a min value of £50m. Which is why Cavani actually now seem a bargain.

Things that AREN'T going for us in this deal:

  • Real Madrid are our rivals in this deal
  • Claudio Ranieri and the vice-president claim that he is happy at Monaco
  • He's expensive as sh*t (January or in the summer)

Things going for us in this deal:

  • Falcao was promised £14 million/year but is only going to receive £7 million/year.... (Thats where the news of "Falcao is unsettled" stemmed from I believe)
  • Monaco are looking to offload him to comply with the UEFA financial Fair Play regulations
  • Mourinho and Falcao share an agent
  • Dmitry Rybolovlev (owner of Monaco) and Roman Abramovich are fellow Russian billionaires and they could smooth the way for a transfer
  • He's eligible to play in the Champions league for us (You would think he'd want to play at the very top level before he leads his team to the World Cup)

Sorry but because he shares an agent you think that will give us an advantage in a sense? Jose shares an agent with Ronaldo but there is no chance in hell of us signing him, if thats the case then we have the possibility of signing about 50 top players because they share an agent with Jose.

Also because the two owners are Russian you think that will smooth it out? How? There is no possible chance that he will 'smooth the way' for transfer, they bought him for 60m do you think hes going to say 'Roman my friend, I don't know you but your Russian so here offer me £40 million monies for Radamel and I will give him to you' ....

The thing that is going against this is that apparently Jose has been told he will not be given money to invest in January. He wants to sell all 3 strikers apparently as well, which I can't see happening, especially if he won't be given a lot of money to get strikers in January. Who is going to sell their striker in January? Dortmund won't, they said they would rather lose Lewa on a free than sell him, Monaco won't sell Falcao in January as they want CL football, Porto are in a 3 way title race they need Martinez to stay until May as well... so its quite impossible looking at it

Why?

According to the Monaco forum, old slight injury contracted when he was in Madrid until the end of December...

The fans on this forum are scared that he played his last game before going to... chelsea.

May be same kind of (fake) injury that Sturridge "suffered" before going to Liverpool.

That says that he is not really injured but feeled some pain.

I know nothing reliable at all, but worth a read if you understand some french http://asmforum.fr/topic/38069-radamel-falcao/page-158
