A Czech friend of mine who is into the world football very much says that according to the Atletico president, Chelsea have the first option to buy Falcao (thanks to the Thibaut deal). Only after we reject the idea of buying him, the Spanish club will start listening to other clubs. He said that Atletico had already rejected offers from PSG, Zenit and Man City.

First option really doesn't do much though. If Falcao wants to join any other club that is interested in him a first option clause isn't going to do us any good. It's really just a very minor advantage, since we'd be the first ones to make an impression. That is if this is even true.

Scored a last minute consilation in a 2-1 loss and tbh was overally poor but the key point is a goalscorer can look totally out of it but he will put the ball in the back of the net. Don't have to play well, but the job is to score and that is what he does.

Unless Atletico agree to sell him for 30 - 35 million, I see him becoming another high priced flop like Sheva, Torres at Chelsea.

Yup just stick with BA and Lukaku and ship Torres in the summer and get a 3rd striker...

I partly agree. Put it this way, I would not spend over £40m for him. We have seen it with too much strikers here now, Falcao may be different but there is no guarantee to say he will be the clinical striker we are looking for. Falcao is like that in a lot of games though. He doesnt really do much in the match but he always pops up at the right moment, that is all I require from a striker tbh. I would like us to have Ba and Lukaku here as the focal strikers. If we are going to just dish out money on new strikers, not really a vote of confidence our strikers need.

Just saw a Chelsea supporter posting over on Redcafe(Manc forum) that the Sky Sports "La Liga experts" just said we have or will offer Atletico £35m and Courtois for Falcao.

I'd rather just keep Courtois and pay a higher fee for Falcao than knocking the price down by including Courtois.

If the only reasonable way to land Falcao is to include Thibaout in a deal, then look otherwise.

Option 1: Buy someone like Cavani instead and run with Cavani+Ba (and recall Lukaku after another season or two)

Option 2: Bring back Lukaku and buy some cheap striker for 5-10m who can play as 3rd.

As of now, we need a 'pure' goal scorer. Torres is more of a team player than Falcao and this is what it is getting us. This team has been lacking a player to get the ball in the back of the net so many occasions. Too many times have we had to rely on Lampard and Mata when we don't have a forward to do so. With the likes and creativity of Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Lampard, and Moses. Falcao will undoubtedly fit our system.
