Radamel Falcao

He's 27 firstly and we're willing to pay £52m. Only 2million more than what we paid an off form Fernando Torres. If that puts things into perspective for you

You seriously can't use that as a reason to justify that buying Falcao at £52m is okay.

Didnt say it was. I was just putting it into perspective for the fella above (who made it seem like £52m was absurd for a player like Falcao). He's for me, the best striker in the world (according to last seasons performances when he actually looked like he gave a shit). It wouldnt be out of this world for us to dish out 52million for him

He's not even the best striker in France. Ibrahimovic and Cavani both have far more to their game than Falcao.

It would be out of this world to dish out £52m for Falcao IMO. He's worth far less than that - and as I've said plenty of times before in this thread, he isn't the right striker for us to begin with.

If you read my post properly i said he's the best striker in the world .... Last season ! I said this because this season he looks unsettled and disinterested if you ask me. That's my opinion.

What's also my opinion as that £52m is not too much for him because:

1. He was signed from Atletico for £50m. I don't think they would be selling for less than that amount. Its not like his value just drops automically

2. He's at the very beginning of his contract at Monaco

3. Monaco are not a team who is in need of big bucks... they're in probably the best financial position out of all the teams in Europe

You are basically on reiterating The Skipper's point earlier about using those reasons to justify Falcao's price tag. It's not exactly very justifiable. Regardless of what it is, 52m is still A LOT for a player, especially when you're not Ronaldo or Messi. That money, if and when used wisely, can be spent to get arguably 2 quality players and moreover, if we are already so reluctant to dish out 60m+ for Cavani previously - if reports are to be believed - then it's unlikely to see us spend 50m+ on Falcao, even if the amount is less.

I would say that is still acceptable for 50m, considering that prices have gone insane like Bale for 100m or Illaramendi for 40m, Marquinhos for 35m etc. I know that Psg, Monaco, Real or City have endless amounts of money, but we will have to spend big eventualy or we will lose on all top available players.

The question is not if we should spend 50mio on another striker, but who will that striker be. As long as he will be success, 50m is affordable, should he be flop and we are fucked.

And Ronaldo isnt even the best player in Spain...

That doesn't make my point invalid. Some people think Ronaldo is better than Messi, so that's just your opinion - however I sincerely doubt that many think Falcao is better than Cavani and Ibrahimovic. Also, Spain > France.

Aguero, Suarez, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Benzema. 5 strikers whom I personally think are better than Falcao. You can't say the same about Ronaldo.

I doubt there are players who are better finishers than Falcao. But when talking about versatility and suitability, then we have plenty of strikers better than Falcao.

Cavani was always the man for us .. but Falcao will do.

Torres, Eto'o and Falcao would be enough striking power to win the title!

Another graduate of the Kevin Keegan school of coaching?

Lukaku, Torres and Ba would've been enough striking power to win the title if the midfield was better. Buying Falcao is only slightly more sensible than buying another AM.

Yep Aguero Suarez would be sold to us by Liverpool and City for less than 52 million;

Cavani and Ibra will want to leave PSG and their massive contracts there

Benzema is shit tier compared to the rest of the players you mentioned.

So what? I think Falcao is better than all the strikers you listed there, bar the two PSG stars!

It is hilarious how you treat my statement as only my opinion and yours as a pure fact. There are a lot of people out there who think Falcao is the best striker in the world right now.

It absolutely makes your point invalid because saying he isnt even the best striker in France means fuck all. Just like saying Ronaldo isnt even the best player in Spain means fuck all...

Well Sherlock, Lukaku isn't here is he!

So what's your point involving him in this discussion????

Not so sure if it goes down it'll be a straight money for player swap. Torres could be used as a makeweight and also Mata may be sold...

Falcao is a killer, this talk of not being the 'right' striker for Chelsea is silly. If this goes through we will have one of the more fluid striker partnerships in the world. Lukaku comes back coupled with Falcao and a third striker like Ba or Eto'o? Nasty.

Falcao to Chelsea would be heavenly not sure what the debate is.

Even then, it doesn't really justify Falcao's huge price tag and need to pay for it.

I'm not sure what's wrong with talking about the 'right' striker considering the kind of players we have and type Mourinho possibly wants given his team setup and style of play. Falcao is a great goalscorer but has his limitations and it can affect the way the team setup overall if you suddenly have a player that doesn't suit the system and between the two, I would rather have Lukaku starting when arguably, he's more of an all rounder than Falcao.

And speaking of the two, I'm surprised nobody has brought up the argument of 'buying player A will mean player B gets less game time than he should. we shouldn't buy player A!'...

Falcao is DEF worth 50M look at what he's done throughout his career? The main reason we didn't sign him was because of his 3rd party ownership not because of him being overvalued.

That is of little concern, we need two capable scorers and one is in his prime the other very early into his career. No need to rush him into being our everyday striker particularly when our aspirations are to win the CL and Prem that's a lot of pressure.

And yet despite that with just an additional 10m+, we did not sign Cavani last summer. Even if Falcao's price is slightly cheaper, I'm not sure we will be inclined to spend that much still for him.
