We're not going to find someone on the level of Remy as our 3rd choice striker. Even as a 2nd choice striker, it'll be hard to find someone who truly gives you as much value for your money as Remy does.

To me it's increasingly looking like he's doing his old buddy Jorge Mendes a favour.

Yes, it maybe hard to find, but not impossible. From the money we should get from selling Remy should be enough to buy another good one. Or maybe add the sum and buy someone like Griezmann to do 'Schurrle', as a winger but could be useful as a striker.

except he doesn't have the power to do that all by himself. He left it clear during the last window and at the end of the previous season (13/14) that he doesn't get to decide who comes. He gives them names and it's up to them to agree.

Also, how come is it a favor? What is Jorge Mendes getting out of it? Falcao has a contract with Monaco, that won't change. We'll pay some fee for the loan agreement - that is rumored to be around 7m - which is exchange for someone like Mendes. Do I find this transfer the most random and nonsense thing ever? Absolutely. I'm 110% against it, but I think it's a bit too conspiratorial to say José is manipulating our board - as if they weren't capable of making decisions themselves. They could always veto any name Mourinho suggests for whatever reason. Maybe José convinced them, but I'm not sure what Mendes wins with it - another flop season in English football is worse than an average season at good for nothing Ligue 1. In terms of exposition, if he has a better season than last, it works favorably for him, and it's easier to have a better season at France than England.

We shouldn't get him, I hope Remy doesn't leave regardless of this situation, but I'm not sure if José has got all that power in this situation. I don't think that's how things have been working in the club lately.

You bring up a lot of very valid points that I agree with entirely but honestly, like DYC said, I wouldn't be surprised if Mou is doing this as a favour for Jorge Mendes - and maybe in return Jorge will sort us out with one of his top clients in the near future. One can only hope that's the case.

Mikel is actually on £70-£80k.

Why does almost every single post of yours come back to Mikel? Some unhealthy obsession you have with him.

I've wanted him out of the club for maybe 4-5 or 6 years and he's the last one remaining of Torres, Luiz, Mikel -the players definitely worth dumping from the squad in recent years, two of whom I disliked with a passion: Mikel and Torres. More than only this, those players have been symbols for what Chelsea have done wrong in recent years. Mikel leaving is the lungs exhaling the final foul dirt of the past.

I'm not sure your number is correct on his salary although some sites confirm that. In any case, he's a waste of money, period. Time to move on to players with better quality or potential.

Why shouldn't we extrapolate from that exactly? And why does it matter so much? So what if Remy wouldn't be able to score 20 goals in 2000 minutes? You and I both know if Loic had that many minutes he'd quite possibly reach 15 goals, which is still a fantastic return for a 2nd choice striker. Falcao played twice as much and only managed 4 goals at United. Your argument is very weak and is based on the premises that Falcao rediscovers his Atletico form and that he's proven to be a great 2nd choice striker (both of which are false).

Falcao has never been 2nd choice before last season and he just did not deliver. How you diminish Loic's return in order to aid your argument is nothing short of stupendous considering that Loic scored many vital goals for us last season to win the title.

You're living in the past. Falcao isn't the Falcao of old and he hasn't proved that he'd be a better 2nd choice than Remy at all. You're being very disrespectful to what Loic achieved here despite his very limited minutes.

All I'm hoping is that his loan doesn't push Remy out because that would be disastrous. We'd lose a versatile, more clinical and better player in the hope that a former superstar regains his form (sound familiar?). Give me Remy over Falcao any day.

I think Mourinho wants to go into next season with all 3.

I have a hunch that Falcao is coming because Remy and Costa together at the same time didn't work really and Costa/Falcao have previous.

I don't like this argument because Remy and Costa was not tried thoroughly enough at all. How many minutes did they actually have playing together?

I must say I haven't felt such a negativity towards the transfer (loan) since we signed Benayoun xD

Can't escape the feeling that such negativity is not caused by Falcao himself, but from the fact that we still haven't signed anyone and that some fans are disappointed a lot regarding potential Remy departure. I feel that the right moment to judge this deal is at the end of the season, not now. I would not like for Remy to leave for anything less then 20mil, would be very difficult to find a replacement.

Lots wondering whether Falcao to @ChelseaFC will work out. It will. They have England's best medics & will have him fit when Costa's not.

Falcao's record at @ManUtd was not representative. He rushed himself back after a serious injury, hoping to play in a World Cup. #CFC #MUFC

Chelsea will give him proper rehab. It's oft forgotten how he also suffered an ACL injury at River Plate. He didn't do bad after. #CFC #MUFC

Not sure but in the all be it limited minutes they did they didn't look convincing.

I think Remy will have a part to play if he stays, if he is performing better than Falcao he will be ahead of him, people underestimate just how team orientated Jose is, the reason Remy didn't play as much as he could/should have last season was he kept getting injured at the same time as Diego and Drogba surprised us October-November time and played really well and was deservedly #2 in that moment.

Just read that Falcaos getting the number 9 jersey and we havent been that lucky in the premier league with that number.

Cascarino,Stein,Vialli,Sutton,Hasselbaink,Kezman,Crespo,Boulahrouz,Sidwell,Di Santo,Torres.

Ive included the good ones too but you get my drift eh.

The only reason I like this, is that it's a loan.

So we don't spend too much money over many years to make it work.

It can work and it can't work. For every example you have that it work there's example of people like Sheva, Torres, and Kaka.

Mourinho ain't no magician and he can't make everyone perform the best. He will try but if it doesn't work oh well. It was just a loan.

we won't play them together as we play in a 4-2-3-1 formation with a lone striker up top. even if we buy falcao it would be as a substitute.in europe it isn't too wise to play 2 up top and then leave the defence and midfield to be blown up (as an example look to city's defeat to barcelona ).

Will it definitely be a loan only?

Several rumours going around saying otherwise.
