stroey 2,525
Or may be Remy asked to leave to be first choice somewhere else? That's a different scenario, a scenario where we are forced to react. But based on his interviews (talking a lot about next season), he's not planning to leave.Plus, when he signed with us, he already knew Costa is the 1st choice. So his mindset should be settled like that, unless he changed his mind.

petre.ispirescu 4,928
I completely agree with your post but didn't we say the same about Torres?I didn't. I've never been a fan of his tbh. And he was a "Roman buy". Things have changed this time. If Mourinho thinks he has the ability to turn things around and bring Falcao back to his form, then I fully trust our manager to do it. Everyone thought Terry is finished before Jose came in. Now he is back to being one of Europe's best defenders again. I truly believe that Jose can work his magic on Falcao aswell. Sosuke Aizen 46
@petreThat's not necessarily true. John has looked as good as he has because the team adapts to mask a lot of his deficiencies. Matic basically remains glued to the center backs and we also deploy a deep line. All of this is so that Terry's lack of pace is not exposed. This deep line is one of the reasons we find it hard to dominate bigger teams in terms of possession. We are also not too concerned with blocking crosses because heading them or defending is one of Terry's biggest strengths. That sometimes backfires on us as well. The only way Falcao recovers his voodoo is if such adjustments are made centered around him. But I don't think he's worthy of going through all that trouble for.
Styles 9,790
This would be a terrible move after all the good work that has been done over the last 4-5 years.Remy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> current Falcao, but I guess Remy isn't a sexy enough name for some. Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
We're going to be paying at least 150-200k a week for a third-choice striker? And a player of Falcao's supposed calibre is happy with being 3rd choice? Yeah, you're really winning me over!Where are you getting these numbers from??? The Mak 4,459
Where are you getting these numbers from???Common sense tells me he will not drop his almost 300k salary to anything below that. It's irrelevant anyway. I don't think he's worth anything, so I'm not getting into pedantics with you.

We've finally had a good spell of smart, value for money, well scouted transfers and this one alone could undo all that. Costa, Fabregas, Hazard, Oscar have all come in and shown what smart transfers can accomplish. Ability > Name.

michalcfc 69
so did TorresTorres in his prime was all about pace, he's never been a great technician. I can't understand why people still compare these two players, they are so much different. First of all we ain;t gonna pay 50mio pounds for him and he'll come as a 2nd or 3rd striker. !Hazard! 3,394
I think this would be very smart move if he agrees to decline his wages to Diego Costa's levels. Costa-Falcao-Remy would be fantastic for next season, it would able us to play with two quality strikers in some matches and signing Falcao might not always eliminate Remy's playing chances as Mourinho has played him as a winger in some games and might continue to do so next season. Signing Falcao might therefore terminate the need for a new winger and instead our resources would be targeted towards another quality midfielder. The season after next when Falcao's loan is finished, we could give Bamford or Solanke the role of 3rd striker. Obviously, this would only be a short-time solution, and in the past two seasons with Eto'o and Drogba, those solutions proved to be quite successful. I would still prefer signing Zlatan though. BlueLion. 21,491
Falcao is still class. The United "system" LvG utilised was obscene, absolutely no place for an out-and-out striker in there. Stick Falcao in the Arsenal or Chelsea teams of last season and he'd have banged them in without an issue. You don't become a bad player overnight. Torres didn't. It was a gradual process of one hopeless moment after another. He still had the odd glimpse of brilliance, especially under Benitez, but ultimately he was done for. People need to remember Falcao is the guy who kept Diego Costa out of the Atletico team and this time last year was one of the superstars to be missing the World Cup, which so many of us were gutted about.
