Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
He has gigantic wages and is a shade of the striker he was at Atleti. We have Costa and Remy. This makes no sense whatsoever. I'd rather we get someone like Dzeko, if we want to sign a striker at all.Has dzeko expressed an interest in wanting to join? Is he comfortable with being 3rd choice striker? What's his record in big games?
Melanicus 5,208
Why the fuck would we sign 3rd striker who would earn more than 100k per week? He has HUGE wages. Still think we should go for Charlie Austin, home grown, great finisher and would be relevant sub.

xPetrCechx 13,571
No, no, no. At least 3 other positions need significant improvement.our ST position too...
Madmax 9,219
our ST position too...I'd honestly place it 5th or even 6th, depending on what's happening with Luis and Ivanovic. RW, CM, CB >>>> LB, RB >>> ST. Oh, and there's the small matter of finding a replacement for Cech.
nadavTKL 1,787
No, no, no. At least 3 other positions need significant improvement. And getting Falcao on loan means we won't improve those 3 positions? The only reason you're saying that imo is because Falcao could be the first signing, if he was the last than people would go 'yay, another improvement'.I don't understand why people are surprised. this season we had Costa, Remy, Drogba, next season we'll maybe have Falcao. Why's that a problem if he accepts 100-150 on wages? Drogba was on 100 when he's 37 and was very poor the 2nd half of the season.

The only reason you're saying that imo is because Falcao could be the first signing, if he was the last than people would go 'yay, another improvement'.Well, obviously, because there are such things called priorities. Firstly, I'm not convinced we even need a third striker. Secondly, I'm not convinced Falcao fits the mould of a third striker (read my post a page or so back about why I think so) and thirdly, according to Mourinho there'll be a couple of signings to keep some players on their toes - if one of them is Falcao, it means we're not going to be improving those other areas that need it more. nadavTKL 1,787
Well, obviously, because there are such things called priorities. You're very naive if you think the club is working on one deal - close it - and than moves to the next one. Im sure right now we're working on a RW, a CM and at least one defender and GK. Today Falcao got the headlines, so what? it could be the first signing, because maybe its the most easy deal. For now its just another player we're reportedly interested in, like Griezmann, Koke or Stones.I dont get why would anyone listen to Mourinho when he's talking about transfers, if he said "a couple of signings" that could also mean 5 signings. What's his record in big games?Has scored quite a few against United, Liverpool and Tottenham down the years. Also tends to score in other games when City needed it most.If Mourinho is willing to rotate a little bit more, then I don't think it would be problem for him to come here and besides, Remy can play out wide if/when needed. That being said, I doubt City will sell him to us.

I think there are some misunderstandings. I clearly listed the reasons why I'm not feeling this move but if I didn't explain them properly, apologies. A third striker would be alright so long as it's not at the cost of the areas that are far more important (imo) . It has nothing to do with the order of transfers and everything to do with their necessity.I dont get why would anyone listen to Mourinho when he's talking about transfers, if he said "a couple of signings" that could also mean 5 signings.Well if he's talking bollocks then I don't have any reason to complain, do I? Because then he's doing what I think he needs to do. But since for now I'm taking him at face value, he can only pleasantly surprise me

"Couple" = pair. But anyway, read into Jose saying 2, 3 or 4 is stupid imo, he wont tell you exactly how many players he'll bring (why would he do it?).im pretty sure he dont know the nubmer himself. Players could leave and than you need more signings.

Now as far as Falcao specifically for that 3rd striker role, I don't think it could work, as detailed earlier.

Now as far as Falcao specifically for that 3rd striker role, I don't think it could work, as detailed earlier.I agree with you on that. It's not easy for a player to barely play and then expect him to perform when called upon. I was shocked Remy scored as often as he did, including important strikes. Falcao had to come in as substitute pretty often last season and he didn't actually make an impact. He's always been first choice.I prefer the club looking for a striker with a specialty. Whether that's being strong in the air, holding the ball, a workhorse, speed demon etc. That way he can have an impact without having to score. Falcao is not that player. Superblue 6,372
Not convinced by Falcao after this season but it is an improvement on Drogba for our trio of strikers and the fact is when Costa is fit he's first choice and plays.
stroey 2,525
When I think about Mourinho, Falcao and Costa, I think about this moment: https://youtu.be/vpsgEq_oZVESkip to 01.05 for the goal. Just two years ago, Tibo, Courtois, Diego, Mourinho, Falcao, Luis, were all in Madrid, now they can be together in our team for next season. Vytis33 1,270
I'd rather have Chicharito if he's available. Tons of energy and movement as a substitute, and would trust him to start if Diego and Remy were injured at the same time again.
nadavTKL 1,787
Chicharito in a Chelsea shirt... even his nickname is annoying.Im also pretty sure that for once in his career he would like to actually play every week.
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Dunno, only used him as an example, I'd rather we sign no striker. We're gonna have to sign a striker. Drogba made 29 appearances this year, more than any other striker. It's clear with Remy and costa we're probably gonna need an experienced forward. No one comes here knowing they're likely third choice. Falcao has something to prove and will likely be motivated to succeed here seeing as it is his last chance at a big club. I actually don't mind him as third choice given the market and circumstances.
