A 4-3-3 as expected, that can morphe into 4-2-3-1 or even 4-4-2 as need be.

Zouma will be better than Cahill if he's given enought play time. And yes I don't see why Willian is on the bench. Hazard on that seat makes more sense, just in case.

Why the horrible Schurrle is given yet another start and Salah is not is beyond me.

We should win this regardless of who's on the pitch.

It was interesting to hear him say after the Tottenham match that he does not judge defenders on individual mistakes

More like he doesn't judge defenders that he considers untouchable on individual mistake. Ivanovic and Cahill playing virtually every game this season despite thier poor form defensively is testament to that. But I'm willing to bet if Zouma, Christensen or any squad players were to perform as poorly as those 2 have been in some games, that would'nt be the case.

Jose isn't the worst manager when it comes to favouritism and bias but he does have his favourites that's for sure

I watched a number of Chalobah's performances for Watford as well as being a regular visitor to a one of their fans' forums while he was there. Along with the positive, I saw many negatives too and this was reflected in the comments I read. Granted most posts were of the positive kind including one bemoaning that Chalobah would be missing a game and saying how incredible it was that an 18 year old was the key member of their midfield. We have to remember though that this was just the writer's opinion. There were also many more sober, and in my opinion more accurate, assessments.

There is a phenomenon in football where new, and especially young, players benefit from an expanded honeymoon period. During that honeymoon, a player is given maximum credit for everything he does well, while anything he does badly is either excused away or just ignored all together. As a result of this the general tendency is for the quality of these players to be overrated. Eventually though reality breaks through.

That's fair. However, I don't believe you were around when the discussions were taking place. Like you, I watched plenty of Chalobah at Watford due to one of my housemates at university being a massive Watford fan so my opinion that Chalobah could be a very nice option in the squad isn't something that I've just picked up on from listening or reading from certain Watford fans.

Choulo is of the opinion that Chalobah's loan spell at Watford was very overrated but almost every single Watford fan I know, and my self included, rates the kid very highly and I personally truly believe that after watching him come up the youth ranks and his loan spell at Watford and Boro to a certain extent where he was pretty decent as well - all the kid needs is a chance here.

As I said in his thread, I think he'd make the ideal Matic understudy.

What about Oscar?

He's hardly a creative player. Doesn't really have that killer through ball in him and isn't a string-puller like Cesc.

Still think there are plenty of goals in this side but it looks most likely to come on the break.

I was starting to write something but this is written much better:

I watched most of his games at Watford, especially the second part of the season. He was incredible for an 18 year old but also like any 18yo, he was very inconsistent and tended to disappear when the pressure is raised in the game. He was NOT ready to be brought back to Chelsea at the end of that season nor would he have had any significant playing time had he came back.

Well, our manager thought different. Mourinho said himself that he thought Chalobah could contribute and that he was "ready" but obviously regular game time was thought to be more important which is fair. I do believe that Chalobah would've benefitted more from sticking around their first team and getting minutes here and there, slowly integrating into a squad player similar to Ake.

Azpi at right back today, hopefully this means Jose is at least considering it as his permanent position.

Really doubt it. Mourinho always starts Azpi at RB in the cup games or when Ivanovic is rested.

Anyway I can understand why Mourinho has a strong team out but it is funny how a few weeks ago people thought RLC had a realistic chance of playing against Derby just because he came on against Sporting and yet we only have 1 youth graduate in the squad. I seriously don't see how our youth will ever make the step up with Mourinho in charge.
