We Hate Scouse 10,326
How big is football in India? You never really see Indian players. Do you think India will produce a world class player soon?
DavidEU 2,023
Trezeguet, del Piero, Pires, Ljungberg, Luis Garcia, Capdevila, Josemi, David James, Michael Chopra, Manuel Freidrich are the 'big' names that are going to be out there. Materazzi and Peter Reid are amongst the coaches.I guess its a start to finally getting football on the map over there?
didierforever 7,349
How big is football in India? You never really see Indian players. Do you think India will produce a world class player soon? There has been a BOOM in football's popularity in the recent past. Specially in the younger generation. Kids today are discussing football just like they would discuss and moreover more and more are starting to play the game. We are still light years away from producing a world class player simply cos we don't have the basic facilities and grass root organization for kids to vecome one. The natch our players were getting is a disgrace and so people don't see it as a viable career choice. Hopedully the rise in popularity changes things. nachikethas 1,154
How big is football in India? You never really see Indian players. Do you think India will produce a world class player soon?It really popular in Indian states like Bengal,Kerala&Goa. Popular than cricket. We really need to develop the infrastructure for football. Also the regular system needs to be changed. Here the football academies aren't very efficient, a young player only gets chance to perform on big stages by the time he turn 18 at least.I think each ISL teams need to develop their own football academies in order to participate which will help the young indian talents to mingle with international players and train with them. Also the upcoming U-17 world up in 2017 will be great platform for India to get in to the main stage. We need to develop a good team for that from now.

The perception of your 'cousin' doesn't match the perception of the majority of people visiting Germany since Germany is one of the most popular countries to migrate to for many people. Deal with it. But again, everybody has the right to have his opinion. Calling all Germans like you do is the same like calling all Indian people rapists. Just nonsense. Cholo 428
So you make this comment...And then get butthurt when Spyker calls Germans rude..Why are you even joining the conversation? You weren't part of it. Can't stand people who have the urge to have a say in every matter. It's not the first time you're doing it. Are you on your periods again? Or is it an attention deficit you have to cope with?
AswinR 96
How big is football in India? You never really see Indian players. Do you think India will produce a world class player soon?football has been really big...it had a brazilian ligue model in the 60's and 70's(especially in kerala, bengal, goa) but again due to improper infrastructure it was only seen as a means to get a job in the railway or services after college.... then the age of cricket came in india.... everybody jumped on the cash rich bandwagon and soon forgot hockey and football which were actually coming up during those times......the saddest part is I have seen players while playing at university level that are actually very talented.....with proper coaching and tactical guidance they could have reached a english professional player standards....but most of them if not all chose to become engineers or doctors .... they get paid around 3000$ monthly in those jobs while as a footballer they would have got paid at the top level as a star player about 10000$ annually(baichung bhutia's income )..so why india doesnt have a football team of atleast average standards are obvious!! btw a cricketer gets paid around 8000$ per series even if he doesnt get to play...!!!What's the attendance expected to be? Do you think it'll sell out?it was a complete sell out..... apparently not one seat was empty and ppl had a bought a lot on black about thrice the orginal cost to just see the match ....and kolkata really turned up some style....the foreign players was a treat....but again it brought out how behind the indian contingent is to catching up
