There will be times our FB's get forward but for the most part they will sit deep and provide a platform for our attackers to build from

I disagree. I think for the majority of times (against inferior teams which we'll face more often than not) they'll support our attackers to build play, and not only provide a solid platform.

I'm very certain our fullbacks will be more involved in general play next season. Mou will not be as conservative next season as he was in the last.

Nah... that usually happens if we haven't scored and we're searching for it. 70mins or so.

You guys are hoping Mourinho changes his stripes but he knows how to win and his methods don't variate all that much.

Now which stripes are these? The ones where he played Marcelo as a very attacking left-back or the ones where he was last season pretty much forced to play a right-back out of position on the left?

I get it, you have this agenda against Mourinho but let's not still be ignorant. To even talk about 'stripes' with Mourinho is wrong, the man's more like a chameleon who can adapt to work with what he's got (to some extent).

I LOVE MOURINHO! Have no idea what you're talking about!

Oh and by the way I know a bit more about Mourinho's methods than most, I actually know a guy who took his coaching badges with him. I've actually SEEN one of Jose's dossiers.

Marcelo also lost his job to Coentrao, Azpi played left back for defending purposes not attack.

Actually no he didn't. Marcelo played pretty much every game when fit, including the important games, but in Mourinho's last year at Real Madrid he was injured for much of the season. Either way, Coentrao is not exactly what you'd describe a defending full-back either and he was mostly deployed in pretty much the same role as Marcelo whenever he played.

Azpilicueta played as a defending full-back last season, that much is clear. However, I would assume that if Mourinho was fully satisfied with his performances there he would just continue with Azpilicueta and not spend a lot of money on a left-back who is known to be excellent both in defense and attack. When buying such a specialist for the position, the ideal thing would then be to actually play him in a role where we can get the most out of him on both ends of the pitch. If the plan was to keep playing a defending left-back who rarely goes forward, why would we not have just bought someone like Marcus Rojo who, like Ivanovic, is a CB by trade but can still play perfectly well as a defending left-back?

Go check out which games Coentrao played in. The big games, until he got injured, featured Coentrao....

A lost place is what happened to Ash last season his total numbers equal 1 full season and 8 games may lost his job was a poor phrase to use to try and prove your point about Luis

The season I'm speaking of specifically was 2011-2012 where Coentrao played in more of the Champs league games and also the clasico. I can't remember if Marcelo was injured though to be honest.

Pointless argument. Even if Mou loves his defensive fullbacks, at least one of them will be allowed to attack in the lesser games - which Ivanovic always did.

Not even an argument really. I just don't think we're gonna see much variation from what we've seen in the past, there may be more quality but nota complete abandonment from what Jose normally does.
