hi everybody

my name is jan and live in antwerp Belgium

favorite teams are antwerp in Belgium and Chelsea

fan since my dad learned me what football is so i think i was around 4 years old

Is it a common belgian mistake the learn/teach thing? :P

'Leren' in Dutch can be used for both to learn and to teach, so yea I'm sure the mistake has been made before

it's also something I've seen both American and British say all the time. Maybe it's their equivalent of in portuguese using emprestar both to emprestar e pegar emprestado. It's wrong (as far as I know), but still used broadly.

I don't think I have ever seen native speakers confusing both, weird.

Aaah she 'learned' you special things? Exotic ones?

She 'learned' me one or other thing :wub: (this expression does exist in english, doesn't it?)

"Learned" was used in the common dialect in the US in the 18-19th century. I've read it in a lot of books from that era. I reckon it is still sometimes used in some southern states.
