FA YOUTH CUP REPORT: CHELSEA 3 BARNSLEY 0

Posted on: Fri 15 Feb 2013

Summary

Chelsea booked our place in the

quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory over

Barnsley at Staines Town courtesy of a ruthless first-half performance

in which all three goals were scored.

Lewis Baker opened the scoring on the half-hour, crashing a free-kick

beyond Elliott Chadderton, before Alex Kiwomya doubled our lead five

minutes later.

Two minutes before the break, Kiwomya put us firmly in the ascendancy

with his second of the night, an absolutely unstoppable strike which

was fit to grace any occasion.

Nathan Ake and Reece Mitchell both went close after the break, while Kiwomya should have secured his hat-trick late in the game.

The holders, however, march on, and we will now face either Manchester City or Derby County away in the next round

Should be an excellent semi-final. Two teams with really talented players.. Hopefully we can get to the final and most importantly win it. BTW, Brendan Rodgers as hinted that he will give Raheem Sterling a run out, a player who has played a huge part of Liverpool's first team this season. They also have Ibe who is tipped to be one of their next big things. Hope Sterling plays. Will be an intriguing battle.

Can't wait!

FA Youth Cup XI v Liverpool: Beeney, Aina, Davey, Christensen, Wright, Baker ©, Loftus-Cheek, Colkett, Boga, Kiwomya, Feruz.

Subs: Killip, Conroy, Dabo, Swift, Hunte.

Very young side. Its a two-legged tie, no away goals rule.

Also glad to have Adi Viveash coaching and not Dermont Dummy (why was he coaching next-gen anyways).
