There definitely is some dumbing down going on. It's amazing how much pop culture has regressed in as little as 10 years. Artists have to make one album per year so they wouldn't be forgotten, that shows how forgettable "art" they produce. And if you watch TV, then no need to look further than MTV, what absolute crap it has become. Even cartoons are like that now. They used to be meaningful, I shit you not. As an adult I've researched about popular 90s/early 2000s cartoons and I found they often had hidden meanings, some even touching serious topics like alcoholism, abuse, neglection etc. Of course as a child you don't understand that, but the older you get the more you learn to appreciate how you weren't considered a total fool as a child, like now. Now when I am forced to watch CN or Nickelodeon, I see nothing but dumbed down naive crap.

Anyway, when you look at pop culture today, things that appeal masses, you see more and more materialism. They try to commercialize you just like they are commercializing "artists". There is little focus on quality products, but rather on mass production, which sells quick but doesn't stick.

There is a video of Tupac when he was younger, when he swore to change his life, he talks about his mother and such. Very deep, he is a good human being regardless of what's happened, Drake and Young Money have no meaning. There lyrics and everything is just pathetic, there raps consists of corny shitty punchlines.

Tupac isn't my favourite rapper, but I do respect the man and I enjoy listening to him.

I said the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you're saying I said.
